Question specifically for @Seamus (because I know he quit UE completely), but anyone with similar experience welcome to share!

Why did you quit UE? I’m about to, though very sad to loose my Regulars. This is the only reason why I still bother to turn it on. But the Lakewood Horror is getting so out of control I’m seldom even seeing them.

Frankly, it’s been horrid. I still get some worthwhile pings and usually my income’s higher on UE; but DD is busier and mostly shorter trips. Pay’s kinda sucky - never a $20 tip.

What were your reasons?

Up until the fall of 2019, Uber Eats used to have multiplier surges where you got generally 1.5 to 3.5x on the offers so you could make good money. In 2019 Uber went public with an IPO that put stock prices on the board. With the pressure to make a profit for stockholders, they started taking a Hatchet to driver pay. Almost overnight payouts went off a cliff. Not only did they eliminate the multiplier surge, but shortly after stopped subsidized offers which resulted in the $3 offers you see today.

Importantly, at that same time DD and GH were aggressively trying to gain market share and had piles of cash to burn. Almost every GH offer paid $15 to $24, and almost every DD offer paid $12 to $15!!!

So at that time, UE became public enemy #1. Why would I even bother getting shotgun blasted with UE dogshit offers when GH and DD were paying so much more? I just deleted the app and that Was the end of UE.

However, now is a whole different scenario, because DD has become as bad as UE. The choice back then was “which app do I choose”. Now, the choice is “is this even worth doing”!

I started doing ue along with rides a few months after the pandemic started, it was great money. Now i might do a delivery once every couple of months if I'm on a df and it's along the way. Otherwise i get bombarded with $3 offers that overwhelm my phone and patience.

If you have regulars why dont they have your info so you can deal with hem direct when they need you to run an errand or pick up their regular orders?

treat these apps as lead generators to grow your legit biz especially if its a local area you serve

no need to be a middleman for someone more than once after the 1st time youre friends if not block them so they ge he experience of a different person everytime as they obviously dont appreciate your service

the app did its job the 1st time no need for it anymore

when they 1st introduced ue i ignored 100% literally 1 outta 1000 orders would of equated minimum wage so I just turn it on to laugh thouasands of requests later maybe 10 would have been worth it ignored them too, I find in insulting after a few minutes, but if I was a teen I would take em all, make sure everyone had my number and card and when they needed somehing to text me and Id bring i for 10-20$ over the receipt or free meal

but for $2-10 nah lol

I did pizza hut turn of the century it was 6 an hour + miles reimbursed forget the amount, + tips which came to almost 15 an hour plus free food used to move weed back then so half my deliveries ended up buying sacks from me

network while u can these apps just get worse every update

I’m very by-the-book. If they offer it - I’ll gladly discuss. But I myself would never address this.

better print up some fliers set up a DBA for $20 bucks as an errand service which would be by the book if thas whats holding you back

"Ms Mercs Errand Service
within 5 miles of 90210
just text & for $10 Like Michael Jackson Ill be there..."
add $10 for every addition 5 miles away from 90210

I dont see the reason why these apps exist but theres obviously a market to address

personally when I did live off dollar menus I would never think about paying 5 mcchickens to get 1 delivered Id rather have 5 more mcchickens

If I couldnt get to work Id offer a friend family member coworker gas money, lunch, a 6 pack, a sack to give me a ride

If I had money thats what the nanny housekeeper assistant... is for

If I had kids of age living at home thats what they are for..

but Im an old man yelling at clouds people want their taco bell delivered who am i to judge, they want to subscribe to their porch and use an app for shopping oh well, it takes me 6 hours per year to do 100% of my grocery shopping 1 visit to a store every 2 months for an hour

I guess maybe if you were disabled these apps make sense but again hey should have services for that

UE DD GH all the same. Lots of lousy offfers. My acceptance rate on each is around 10%. Some days it hours up to 15 and others down to 5. Thursday was horrid here. Few offers and the few horrid ones I decline so I did $15 from 3 to 8 pm. Yesterday got some decent ones and did $150 from 8 am to 8 pm with breaks in between I don’t sit by the restaurants I’ve found sitting next to one doesn’t give more offers so I go home and do minor tasks around the house while online. My house is a quarter mile to many restaurants. Trying to be productive

Indeed that is the question. And after today I've decided, the answer is NO! It started out as a good day. I won't go into details about all of the disasters that unfolded, but let's just say it ended in a very lame speeding ticket that's going to wipe out most of my earnings for the weekend. I still need to make some extra $, so I'll keep doing UE/GH for a little while, but as soon as I've replaced those nickels and dimes I make from delivery, I'm done with any and all driving apps. With the unrelenting greed of the gig companies, the price of gas, and the aggressive and unforgiving traffic enforcement by the lady cops in the City of Winter Park, it's just not worth it.

Unfortunately tickets are an expense just as brakes or any unexpected car issue. Had 2 red light tickets in Miami each was $165. A parking ticket in Fort Lauderdale. So I know what it feels like to drive all day just to pay a ticket Solution I stopped driving out of broward county. No photo camera. Dade county Miami had camera so no more there.

now in Kissimmee so far no issues but I try to stay close to home where I know the roads and where to be cared.

the bigger issue is the car itself: The beating and devaluation it’s undergoing. That’s the biggest expense unseen until you sell it.

That is hands-down the worst idea I've ever come across on this forum.
yes why build your own local business / client list filled with local thats mutually beneficial?

when you can use an illegal app thats pay $2 an hour on 95+% of job offers and siphons money from the local economy

doh
fliers cost pennies to print same a business cards
email is free or a separate phone line is 30 bucks a month
a web domain/site is 5-10 bucks a month
the post office will mail 5000 + people in any zipcode you want for around $1200 thats with fliers printed
get about 100 customers from that youve broke even with expenses
or boots on the ground deliver them yourself or hand out with each order

the app puts you face to face boots on the ground with the demographic that actually wants taco bell delivered
take advantage of that while you can

or deal with the actual odds of these apps as only 4% succeed
