Those of you who operate on the Uber select platform may have seen a resurgence over the first three weeks of August especially at LAX. Some drivers were getting 10 to 15 rides a day. That was because Uber select was the only five passenger car that allowed paxholes to ride 4 deep. On the fourth Monday in August while no one was paying attention Uber changed the amount of passengers to three from four after they realized how popular Uber Select was getting at LAX.

Now the maximum amount of people you can have in an Uber Select is 3. Also Uber moved Uber Select out of the “premium” section to “more”. Uber select is so far down the list now hopefully engineers think this will kill it off for good. This is for Los Angeles county market only. This is another example of Uber manipulating platforms and manipulating pricing to get a desired outcome. Uber select undermines Uber black. And it has to go.

Select was good for a long time until theydecided to bury it in the app and surge it along side X , select was always way more than black.

SUV used to be 4.55 a mile and .55 a minute before commission. Look at it now. With inflation how is the price lower than it used to be. I just don't get it

You are right, black really isn’t that profitable anymore either.

Even if you own the vehicle… insurance, maintenance, fuel etc takes its toll

Those that “lease” are probably in it for $1200 a week in expenses before they get anything

If i had to depend solely on apps I would be doing real bad. But for me to come up a good amount I need Uber to be bz so I can work the apps in between privates :/

They did away with Select in the Milwaukee market years ago. That is one of the reasons I bought the car I had. It was a very nice premium.

Well for the first three weeks in August it was extremely busy. But all I was getting was foreign customers. I made over $600 in the second week of August in one day on select it was crazy.

I’m fortunate that my only real expense over just my vehicle is commercial insurance that runs about $500 a month , Lyft black rides are very scarce out here especially during business hours so without uber black I wouldn’t be able to drive

That’s why you say Lyft black rides suck. Out of the eight rides I took today I only got one black ride and that was because he ordered by accident. Good thing I ran into one of my favorite rappers!

Lyft black is probably 5% of my app rides, uber black is 95%. Maybe 90/10, but sometimes Lyft suprises me with a nice ride so it’s worth running all the time when I am out. And I only accept LYFT BLACK XL not Lyft black
