I took a passenger from Cambridge to the North End. He left his phone in the car. After I got a trip to Swampscott. Then the passenger that left his phone starts calling me relentlessly. I dead head from Swampscott back to Cambridge and return the phone. I submit the request to Lyft for the $15. Below is their response, I guess in the future the passenger can come to me.
That's BS the tip has nothing to do with return fee. Keep sending messages to support, tell them you have a relative that's works for abc news and she is interested in the story.
That’s messed up and that’s why I don’t go out of my way to return items anymore I have them come to me while I’m taking a break or at my next destination especially sometimes when find a cell phone with a few miss calls after you realize there was a phone in your backseat so when you pick up the next call the rider gives you attitude like you did not pick up on purpose so you could keep the phone anyways hopefully you get compensated for it because that was a long drive
I can understand we’re lyft is coming from. This is a tough one. This is coming from someone who hates lyft. But on this one, it’s not a clear black or white issue.
After a Uber drop off at Logan yesterday afternoon, I stopped on Route 1A and gassed up. As I left the gas station, I got an Uber line call from the lady pax asking me to check the back seat for an iPhone, which was there. It took about ten minutes to return to the exact Logan drop off spot, as I handed her iPhone out the window, she passed me $20.
But it seems Uber plays hands-off relative to any payment, this pax certainly was appropriately appreciative.
A pax left a phone in my car. I could not power down the phone. It was not an iPhone. Pax kept calling me through the app but i didn't answer it since I had a pax in car. Then the phone's tracker device started ringing. I could not shut it off. So I had to immediately go to pax and give it back. Surprisingly he gave me a $10 cash tip and I got the $15 fee through the app. The point is that I could not power down the phone.

I always power down the phone, of course Lyft gives the passenger your phone number and they call relentlessly. I'm still tying to get my $15 but gav yet to get even the additional $5 Lyft said I'd get
I'm not sure if lyft give your personal phone..
What I have learned is that our voice mail is what give our number..
I remember long time ago a pax got my phone number on uber because I have not set a personal voice mail and everytime she tried to call me using the uber phone she gets "you have called 5...0...8...x x x x .. please leave your message"

So in the end Lyft gave me $10. So not the $15 they promised but more than the $5. However lesson learned on making an effort to return the phone. Going forward it won’t be a priority they will get it when I’m in that area .

Just make sure to turn the phone off. A drunk girl left an iPhone in my car last month so I brought it into my apartment until the next day when I could arrange a return. I woke up and glanced at the phone and someone named "Mom" (obviously the girl's mom) had texted 20 times asking, "where are you!?" And "are you ok!? Call me."
One text had a Google Maps screenshot of my apartment complex from one of those Find My iPhone / tracker apps. Creeped me out to say the least.
Long story short the police can come knocking so either throw it in the river if the pax didn't tip on the ride, or keep it off and deal with Lyft and the pax via email only.
One time a pax left here phone in my car, she was the last trip of the night. When I got home I never realized there was a phone in my car. The next morning I went out to work as usual and after completing my first ride of the day, I got a call from the girl that left her phone in my car, so I pulled over to look for her phone and there was no phone insight, I told her that maybe she had left it somewhere else. I asked her if she could track her phone and when she told me the phones last known location it was my home address, I was in shock because the phone was not in my car, so we came to the conclusion that the rider I picked up that morning took the phone. I reported the rider and that was it. The girl that lost her phone never doubted my story and was very nice to me the few times we where on the phone trying to figure out what had happened.
