If you have joined UberPeople.net because your Uber account was hacked, you've likely been taken in by a scam. Please read this before starting a thread on this subject.
Request a ride for someone else: guest pays driver cash?
So you take a ride, you get jacked, you go to the hospital you die. not only does Uber get the cash out of your your from the ride you took, now there's no way of getting the cash out of your bank account because you're dead.
I'm curious as to how they deal with runners but I personally would love it if they did cash in my area. It's relatively low crime and you should get more tips when people don't have exact change. Nope, I don't have change for a $10 when your fare is $7.20.
There is no exchange of actual cash. The pax basically loads funds into an account (similar to a prepaid card). This is linked to their UBER APP and the funds will be transferred to the Driver Account in a seamless way. This is simply a marketing ploy that is attempting to add new pax. On a side note, this will further decrease the likely hood of receiving a tip.
I don't know if they've ever tested the cash cash option in the US but I'm pretty sure they've tested it in Brazil and India (and possibly other places), I think they are still doing it.
The Uber Cash thing is marketing crap as @Ribak has mentioned. It's nothing more than a preload option if you don't have a CC. Doubt it's coming to the US any time soon.
You are gonna get people expecting change back, period.
I carry like $50 in small change driving a cab. That's reality.
People will expect to be able to pay you the $8.00 they owe and get $12.00 back in change. That's reality. What's the system in place for this to happen?
It says Riders are supposed to have exact change, drivers will not give change, I have no intention to going back to the taxi days where I kept change for passengers, plus you risk the fact of getting counterfeit bills.
Just look at these "impressive" "rideshare industry insider" credentials 🤣:
Marina is a content writer and a film-maker who spends most of her time in front of the computer, writing articles and blog posts on various subjects, learning fictional languages or editing avant-garde movies. This compulsive penchant for learning new ways of dreaming and writing became her dream job. When she's not obsessing about work she tries to cook, read dystopian novels and go on adventures with her dog.
I think we've been looking at this wrong. This is actually somebody with an established verified account, offering a friend or a client of theirs a way home if they pay for themselves by using cash at the end of the ride.
So this would suggest ultimately the account holder that book the ride would be responsible for paying it regardless of what if the passenger paid it or not. This also includes all fees the passenger would incur if they puked in your car.
So ultimately, Uber and the driver would get paid eventually.
But that also opens up a whole new avenue for these people like go go Grandpa and Grandma, methadone clinics, car dealerships or anything that has an account where they are now paying for it for the passenger.
So we are relying on the account holder to be responsible enough to make sure the person that rides is creditable and safe.
I don't think Uber would authorize any ride without a credit card on file.
The cash supposedly would go to the driver leaving Uber with what ?
Are the drivers supposed to send Uber there share of the cash payment ?
And after posting that I realized Uber will most likely not implement the policy for one simple reason: the non-tip is immediately known to the driver, who will immediately give a 1 star.
