It’s pathetic out here in San Diego too. I drove this evening into tonight and only got tipped once after about 15 rides.
OK I thought it was just me. I just switched cars and I thought it was because of that. I get tipped on every single ride usually on Uber. I started to drive down to San Diego and I’m glad I didn’t

I'll second that. I went 0 for 16 on tips Friday night. Highly unusual as I'd normally expect a healthy percentage of tips on a weekend night.
Cheap ass losers lol. I swear the caliber of passenger has declined over the summer. I’ve been giving out 1 star ratings like candy. These ****s get sand all over my seats and try to vape in my car without asking. Last night I accepted an airport ride and the pax started eating some smelly meal in my back seat and chewed as loud as possible and then left some crumbs on my seat.

Good call on avoiding the trip down. I just looked on the driver app and the hot spots look about as active as a Tuesday afternoon.

Not to mention you also have to wait for an hour in the queue at the airport just to get a crappy ride
Yeah thats what blow my mind. I can't believe people will wait for rides that are just as crappy now as the rest of the rides. Its astonishing.

Whats also astonishing is people can't figure out what the algo is doing. If you drop at LAX, whatever the first offer they send you, lets say $15 to Westwood, you aren't getting a better offer 90% of the time. The algo is designed if you ignore the first one, you aren't getting another one better. Maybe in a different direction, but for the most part, same fare amount. AND if you take a good ride into LAX you have a 90% chance of never getting a good one out of lax. The algo feels you made your money already and is now designed to fk you. So many other shinanigans going on too that people just don't seem to understand what uber is up too. Exactly why you have to have both uber and lyft now. Only way to combat the algo manipulation.

Even though the fares have turned to shit, the airports are the most reliable place to get longer rides. Most full time drivers don’t want to do $4 trips all day. Definitely doesn’t seem worth waiting around LAX at these current rates, that’s why I haven’t been there in a year 😅.

I may start going there again soon though for an occasional rematch, because while it’s not worth going to LA from OC anymore, it is worth it when I’m further out.
