Well the thing is, at least in pick up sub-cities (belltown - d.t. / Ballard - Fremont etc.). There are a ton of us floating around. It's mainly at the drop off zones you need to be careful about.
Yea, thankfully all four doors and trunk is bullet proof, and the glass is tempered plated. He punched it twice and before the epic fail kick I mentioned.
As for the dash cam. I brought that up to a couple developers and currently searching apples API for background camera functionality. (android offers something similar)
I just figured we could anonymize our numbers with an alternate texting/calling app. Group text participating drivers, so that way one text/pic/call etc. could reach out to everyone driving and running the app.
The emergency response line with the UBER app. Is a joke. And the police have bigger fish to fry.
theres a ton of different options out there, including streaming live. But what could be done to notify a drop down on the phone? We all know that when you are on the clock, those notifications are like a 6th sense. So if I saw that someone was a few blocks away stating: pioneer square, license plate num. and short description of what was going on: turn off the app., send a response that I am on the way, and ask others near by to help, & I am there to be an extra pair of eyes, fists and boots to someone threatening a driver being treated the same way.
UBER policy is so belittle, that if it means your life, property, or sketchy situation, you should do what's best for you. Regardless.
Learned a valuable lesson that night, and hopefully we all can work together to work around the sand bags that UBER puts around us to release their liability from taking care of their drivers.
