hi - another question on flat surge. They are rolling this out now in RI, and Uber is saying "for long trips the driver may get additional surge beyond the flat rate amount".

Have any of you ever gotten additional surge $$ beyond the initial flat surge amount for a long trip? If yes, how long was the trip?

A couple of times before I stopped driving, I got a text the following week. It said hey, congratulations, you've been awarded additional surge for long trips.

It was a few dollars. I wouldn't go as far as to say I appreciated the money, as it was almost insulting that they framed it like I should be happy to get an extra $3-4 a week after the trip.

It does happen, but it isn't something that makes the new surge system ok. It's like someone punching you in the face and then handing you a bag of frozen vegetables.
