Normally I would bash the idea of spending any money renting a car to drive for Uber, but in hindsight looking at the expenses i spent driving my own car I'm thinking that renting a car might have been as cheap as driving my own. Instead now I just bash on the idea of driving all together.

I need cash flow until I can land a job. I'm working the job hunt during the day. Would have had a decent day until I got burned waiting at o hare after a drop off. 106 in 6.5. 140 miles, almost .5 tank. Something are controllable some are not.

I went through Uber Xchange. I regret it a little. But I wanted to make sure that I had an out if I didn't like it. I am now looking into purchasing my own suv.

If you need to make money now, and can't afford to get a car on your own, it can be a SHORT TERM solution. But bust your ass, and save up money as fast as you can so you can give them a 2 week notice and buy your own car.

If you want to drive Lyft in Chicago, they have a good lease promotion going on right now. If you give enough rides, you only pay $0.20 per personal mile. I am thinking of trying that out while I save up for my Highlander.
