i had only one ride on last Friday after i had finished my other full time job. so i thought on the way back home i can do may be two trips towards my home if i set the destination. and i got one ping from city to chapel street. got a couple on my car. they said they wanted to go to prahran. so i was on the left lane on princes highway to take a left turn almost on chapel street, suddenly the lady from the back asked me to turn right on chapel street towards st.kilda. it was kinda hard given that it was busy on the road and almost close to the signal. and then she asked me to drive her inside her apartment garage door via the parking entrance and almost again told me that after i had passed her apartment so made a U turn. anyway she got off. and the other pax then continued to chapel street. i was little bit upset while getting so poor instruction from the lady to her destination. anyway the other male pax was quiet polite and his rating was 4.93 which is quite impressive as rider. so i offered him menthos and water. he took them and then he asked if i had chewis, unfortunately i didn't , so i offered him menthos. forgiving all those by that lady i still gave him 5* after my ride finished . guess what, next morning i checked my rating dropped from 4.86* to 4.84*. what a joke. i immediately went back to my trip history and then went to the option where i can change my previous rating for the rider. SO GUYS , IF U BELIEVE ANY RIDER HAS GIVEN U BAD RATINGS, GO BACK TO TRIP HISTORY AND RATE THEM DOWN AGAIN. give them back their shit what is a worthwhile.

Are you serious? Why are you still offering Mentos or water? I have been driving for more than a year now. I totally stopped giving water and mints after Uber rate cut. Even if I am driving on a surge more than 2, I don't offer anything. Only thing I offer is a safe ride. And guess what, my rating has increased from 4.76 to 4.84 in last 3 months. Last time some entitled passengers asked for mints, I straight away said "sorry Uber stopped supplying me mints".

Recently my GF took a uber ride, and they driver has Mars bar in the back seat for passengers. Lolzzzzzzz. She obviously took the mar bar. I love some fool drivers who still give water, mints and chocs even when they are working non surge pricing and making less than $15 per hour.

Yeap you are absolutely right Punkdriver, people are not really nice, atleast half of them, got one ride yesterday , pax had 4.5*, it was a $6 ride, i only got $4.45. before he jumped off the car, he grabbed the water bottle , didnt even bother to ask. it was a short trip so i didnt want to offer him anything. pathetic.

for a 4.5* rated rider, i couldnt think better of him. surely many of the driver got upset on his behavior as i was. rated him down for that. and will do in future whoever is similar.

I am assuming you are a new driver and you think that giving water and mints will not only increase your rating but also your earning. I have more than 3500 trips under my belt, I have driven around 50,oookm for Uber. Trust me, people will exploit you if you are nice with them and they will steal your water and mints without even asking.

Sometime, I am straight away rude with the passenger and if I don't like something, I tell them rather than keeping things to myself. Recently I picked someone on a surge. I waited 2 mins outside the apartment, then lady called me and told me wait she is coming. I said ok fine and then I started the trip. She came after around 7 mins. I was really pissed by then and I couldn't canceled the job because I already started the trip. Anyways she came in the car and said thanks for waiting me. I straight away said, thanks for wasting my time in a rude way. She was not expecting this because probably she is used to drivers like you who are trying to be nice guy and offering free water/mints. May be she only gibe me 1 star, which I don't care because my average rating is pretty good and it is moving upwards.

The re-rate pax option on trips may only be there to make drivers feel as if they are able to have some "fairness" if they think they have been rated low. Or it could be the real deal. We'll never know. Starting last week, your rating no longer updates in real time. You only see changes when you shut down and restart the app. That is a consequence of the re-rating option.

Are you sure? I'm still noticing rating changes without a restart (numbers are changing). That said, they don't seem to be as real time as they use to be. Sort of in 'batches'. But that entire Uber backend is wonky. My trip history graph often gets stuck and doesn't update for hours on end.

Even now, nearly 6 hours after my last trip, the graph is still off. grrr

Got downrated because I didn't have any gum.

Never been asked for gum, never offering gum. Don't want that crap in my car. You get mints that I have, or nothing. Even then I don't offer them. They are sitting there. If people ask, I offer.

This is my number one pet hate...... If you ask, I have no issues. If you don't ask, then I'm cranky, but at least you drank some of it in the car. If you take it without asking and don't even open it in the car, you basically stole it from me.

Anyhow, water is 20c a bottle (costco)...... and a tax write off. I have one bottle in the back, one in the front.

I've used 1 bottle of water this week in ~12 hrs on the road so far. Its not really that big of a deal.

i just wanna say to all drivers that if you doubt anyone has rated u down, then go back to trip history and send a new lower rating on that rider (max 3*) please, we work hard on the road and they jokes us by giving low rates. by then, their rating will gradually fall below 4* & we all driver can start to avoid picking them up. by the way. i didn't drive last two days, and my rating has gone down by 0.01 sadly someone has rated down, really pissing me off

I was 10 mins away, other cars 12 and 14 mins and then 20 mins plus

I watched each and every car go off the map and then come back as they ignored the request.

Got the request again about 2 mins later and same thing

Guy would have given up

Cost per km is too cheap should be $1.50

Oh well. We know that these would most probably be loss making min fare trips. I hated having to U-turn and drive 7 min to pick up someone who wanted to go 3 min to the bloody train station too. That was pre-filter days. If I was waiting at a station for a ping like this I'd take it, definitely. Only if I was at the station.

Of course, if a 10 min ETA ping comes when I'm at a station, I'm not taking that either...
