got a request at 12:44 tonight and accepted it but it did not show up after I accepted it. I was heading towards home and about 5 minutes later turned off app. About 10 minutes later get a call from a pax saying I passed his location. I told him I’m not online. I double checked and I was offline. Went online and saw no ride.

I asked him who was the driver it showed and he said my name and car. He saw that I had passed his location and was traveling further away. He was able to see where I was going even though I was offline. I told him it must be some glitch and to cancel. A few moments later I got a cancel notification from lyft.

I'm receiving a lot of cancellation warning from Lyft even when I haven't cancelled any ride for weeks.

That no proof. When you go offline, whatever state your app was in remains the same on the server side. So, if you had a trip(even though it did not show up on the screen due to a buggy Lyft app, which has happened to me b4 too) and you turned off the app, that trip would still be there waiting for you, until pax or the system cancels. So because of the glitch, you saw no trip, but on pax' end you were still his driver and he was still able to call you.

But then again, perhaps because of the invisible trip, system was still tracking even though you went offline.

Funny you mentioned this as I woke up this morning to what I thought was a lyft tone, accepted the trip, threw a shirt and sandals on and when I looked at my phone there was no trip. Lol figured it was a dream lol

It's more of a software issue than tracking. I've had it happen that I've accepted a job and then it shows nothing. Especially if I get the job while still on another job. The pax, on their phone app, is still connected to the system and getting updates. I would not think they are tracking you.

I have experienced weird things with lyft app. I have two phones for uber and lyft. Sometime lyft app accepts the call by itself as soon as I turn it online. I had to cancel couple times. Also it switched rider and made me longer distance. The lyft app is totally *ed up.
I hate Uber in terms of monopoly market service provider and try to support Lyft but the app gives me a lot of *ull *hit.

Exact same thing happened to me a couple of months ago. I posted it here. I ended up picking up the woman but called uber support while I had her in the car so I ended up getting paid for the trip. But no record of the trip showed up. The payment showed up as a trip adjustment.

They do track you. Their algorithm is looking for an accepted trip that gets cancelled then completed off app. So you accept a trip show up and the rider says hey this trip is going to cost me $80 your only going to get paid $20 how about I cancel and pay you $30 cash or the driver initiates it. It happens more than you might think. That is one of the things they are looking for. The other is in the event of an issue like a pax is assaulted by a driver it becomes he said she said they have the data to show even though you said you dropped the pax off and went home your vehicle did not move or your vehicle did move, where it went and no way th pax is telling the truth. The third thing they used to look for and got caught doing was figuring out if you were driving for another ride share app. If you were constantly going offline but your vehicle continued moving but made stops they would use that info to slow down the requests they sent to you. Big Brother is always watching you.
