The ironic thing is, the times I make big money is from events that Uber doesn't even mention. Learned about a concert from a few PAX the day before it, and that day I made all sorts of crazy money. Hit multiple surge fares, highest being 4.5, and was very VERY happy with that night. Few times I was sucked in by Uber promos? I might have made $10 total after expenses, if even that.

They sent me a link to a pic the other day during rush hour of downtown houston at 2.1. Wanting me to go drive.

Problem is I'm 25 miles away at my house. Checked the app for kicks and 3 minutes after the text the surge was already at 1.5. Have to wonder if anyone as far away as me (newbie) actually went chasing after that.

I wouldn't mind being texted if it was surging in MY area. Then I could just turn the app on and maybe get a trip. But if you're even just outside a surge area it'll be gone by the time you get there. And 25 miles away?

I NEVER get pings when near or inside of surges, EVER! And if I'm already moving towards the surge it goes away after 1-2 mins.
