Hi guys. Not sure if anyone has started this thread yet. Anyone got recommendations of places to eat. Gotta be nice cheap with easy parking. Just spent $19 for a burrito and can of solo in Bondi. Horrible !:(
I would park at Bondi Junction Westfield and eat at the RSL or there is Mappen noodles on spring st. But my staple was 1/4 roast chicken and tabouli from Coles. They do supply free plastic cutlery at the chicken section.

+1 Maccas, just get a burger instead of a full meal, the fries are not really good for you, and a waste of money, same with the drink.
+1 Hungry Jacks - get the hungry jacks app, full of discounts and freebies, or get a stunner meal for very cheap and all the extras...
+1 subway (daytime) - healthy options, around $6 for a decent sandwich...

Unfortunately, I tend to drive and eat late at night, so 24 hr maccas is my only choice...

I can't go past a Vietnamese pork roll, Marrickville Pork roll is fantastic and Delish next door is almost just as good. Both have a range of rolls for $5 each, they're huge, tasty and will fill you up well. Free parking in nearby streets, toilets nearby and can fill up your water bottle at the plaza near the post office!

Another one, King's Hot Bread in Hurstville, the best of the best - unfortunately I'm not around Hurstville as often! Try the char siu roll there, its orgasmic!!

Otherwise Hungry Jacks app for freebies is good, and I'll often take a banana or two from home to save money. 80c Coles Express coffee is great for late nights or all nighters!!

I try to avoid Maccas, also hard to justify the cost when a burger is more than $5, but a pork roll is twice as big and full of vegetables as well!

Am I the only person who has a packed lunch? Almonds and sultanas, and celery and sandwiches? How do you guys afford takeaway on uber rates? Even my electrician mates on $100+ an hour take a packed lunch. Costs me $4 per 8hr shift in food.
That's what we should do but I reckon some people drive as an excuse to eat junk food.

Hmm vietnamese pork roll. Great idea. Cheap, healthy amd available almost everywhere. Most bakeries do them in tuna and chicken as well.

Just be careful, if you go traditional, that the soy sauce and pate tends to make an almighty mess, not to mention the crusty roll flaking apart

Here are my go-to's....

  • Chargrill Charlie's in Woollahra or Rose Bay (chicken shops)
  • South Maroubra shopping centre for an awesome Vietnamese roll
  • Glebe point road (just west of bridge Street) great Thai place
  • Leichhardt - Norton Street North end another great Thai place
  • Concord road in Strathfield there is a good Phó place
  • CBD & Surry hills - Bourke Street bakery outlets (good pies)
But agree with taking food and water from home -Cheaper and healthier

This place is incredible value for money. I've been there often on Saturdays for lunch.

Another really healthy option in the area is 'Lentil as Anything' just down near the old Sando/Social Club. Menu changes daily. It's vegan. And it works on on a model of 'pay what you feel'. Please do not take this to mean free. Its not a charity. I usually pay ten bucks, but its up to the customer to do the ethically sound thing.

Absolutely, never eat in the car!!

If there isn't a pile of crumbs on the ground by the time you finish, it wasn't a good roll! The pigeons do a good clean up job, so no harm done!

Hong Ha Mascot, 10 * Pork rolls
Had it a few times, it'd pricier than Marrickville but still a decent roll when in the area.

For anyone around Cabramatta, there's a million bakeries there. I've tried a few and never been disappointed. Prices are also lower, starting around $3.50!
