Places that Steal Tips.

I’m still dumbfounded by Richie Rich’s tip of a few days ago; even more so as I delivered to him yesterday and it was the usual (generous) tip.

It’s just not like him to tip under $10, even on a small order.

We know for fact that Panera and PapaJohn’s grubby hands always dip; but now I suspect Applebees does, too.

I don’t want to ask Richie Rich - I considered it and decided against it. Looked at his previous Applebees order and it looks fine tipwise; his usual.

Just really odd. Not like him at all. Even his lower tips were over $10. Always.

More of a general question, though. Which places do you suspect of stealing tips?

The only places that could are those who take their own online orders and use UE/GH/DD just for delivery. Then, it's not institutional but rather dependent on the skuzzballs that work there.

Oh Lord. Here we go again…
If the order is placed through DD/GH/UE the tips can’t be stolen. They don’t have access to change anything about the order. Now, there are certain places like pizza places that CAN keep all the orders with good tips and give them to their employees to deliver in house. Pizza Hut and Papa Johns do this on occasion.

Yeah, I see it happen every day. I’m just really bothered by RR. I’ve known them for more than a year. This is very out of character for them.
Amazon Flex but you're talking about delivery gig work... Amazon crappy Flex.

They could also steal if they use a third-party order-taking company such as Chow-Now.

It's also possible that the third party company themselves may be stealing tips.

Chow-Now has been accused of stealing tips so often that they felt the need to deny stealing tips on their website.

It's awkward talking to the customer about it but it seems like getting a copy of the orderers receipt and your delivery receipt, taking that to an attorney or your state attorney general would be interesting. Tip theft can be a big deal with criminal charges.

If you’re so sure, why have you not contacted a lawyer ?

I have never once seen a good tip come thru on chow now…

There is one customer that orders from a bagel place frequently and the orders used to be low balled thru chow now.

Now they order directly thru GH and the offers I get are a couple of bucks higher than they used to be thru chow now…
