I hope that is $30 an hour after ubers take.
If it is a part time gig for you, that is approx. $20 an hour, presuming your dead Km’s are kept low.
I’d imagine if you drove 10-4AM your take would be closer to $40-50 per hour, as Saturday there was minimal surges according to my drivers. I didn’t drive last Sat, thankfully.

When would you say the uber earning to be profitable? My average had been $20-21 an hour (after Uber cut). With income tax, GST, running costs, it seems that running uber isnt earning much at all...

If you can't earn at least a $30/hour payout on a Saturday night between 10 pm and 4 am, you're doing something wrong. If you're doing this full time, you need to keep detailed records of what rates you're earning during what hours. That'll give you all the information you need to pick the best hours to work. $20 per hour less GST, running costs, income tax, etc, simply isn't worth it unless you're absolutely desperate and need more than the dole can pay you until you can find something better.

I had a couple of $30 per hour at certain times. Those hours do not last forever though. Sometimes, uber left me stranded up north or down south or far away from any point of interest. In average, it had been about $20-21 an hour (pre-GST, income tax and etc). I had tried mapping out my times but uber rides kept on sending me all over the places.

I dont do Saturday night till 4 am. The latest I did so far was around 1 am, and I had to go back with no passenger as I had waited around 1 hour.

Is there an option for uber to let them know that I am going back home and will only pick those on the way?

If I may suggest, it's you that left yourself stranded, not Uber! With experience you learn when it's ok to sit still, and when you need to get moving.

Yes there is! The Destination feature provides exactly that!

I quit after NYE as I was just so over uber. However after clearing my head for a month I realized I just had too high expectations in trying to earn a wage from uber so last Sat night I went out for only 3 hours during surge in the middle of the night and then come home. Three hours is a breeze and enjoyable when your only working the sweet spot so now I'm not looking for a wage anymore but just a bit of pocket money for the week so now I feel a lot more happy to do it.

I think expectations are the key with driving for Uber. If anyone is looking to put in 12 hour days and earn mining income, they're obviously going to be very disappointed. If you think of Uber as something you can do on the side and earn okay money during the worthwhile times and meet some interesting people, then it's a lot more palatable. If you have another business, it can also be an invaluable way of creating leads and generating business. There can be more to driving for Uber than just earning fares.

So did you manage to get a job with Dominoes then ?
Pretty much common sense isn't it ?, I haven't met anyone yet who drove Uber full time for enjoyment LOL. For me it was just a means of survival and being able to provide for my family until I could get a real job again. After the rate cuts last Feb 2016 it was really tough going with little operating margin except during surge.

Well, my app doesnt have destination feature. According to uber perth movement site, only half of the drivers have those. I am one of those unlucky drivers... Any idea if i can get link to download the app? Or perhaps a trip to uber greenlight might help?

Where does it say only 50% of drivers have it? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me if it's true.
