When I arrived to pick up 2 Adults, 2 Teenage Kids and 4 pieces of luggage I hesitiated.

The Pax expected me to load up the station wagon to the roof, I said the suitcases go in the back and you can nurse your backpacks.

"I need to see out the back and I dont want luggage hitting you in the head" I explained

"UBER should know people at airports have luggage" they moaned

I said they could cancel and order a bigger vehicle, or order a cab, if they want. Once I explained either option would cost them more money they declined

At the end of the journey I quickly exited as the male was about to drag their heavy bags across the bumper bar, he glared when I told him "I'll unload it - dont scratch the car, it's a private vehicle and not a taxi"

During the journey it became obvious they had NO idea how UBER worked and commented driver's must be making a fortune !

I'd be fine with a cancelation that's money in my pocket and I'd also be at the front of the airport que.
A cancelation is what you want at the airport!

Does the 'Too Much Luggage" options initiate at cancel fee? I would have avoided that all together and explained the X option is the budget option while Select has full sized sedans and XL being the roomiest and encouraged for multiple pax or quantities of luggage.

Otherwise politely decline and ask them to re-request another suitable option. Cancelling on the driver end may lose your place in the queue?

Did you explain the average cost for a small Prius taxi from the Airport to their location?

The majority of customers are cheap paying people. I don't believe they didn't know about the other options and where merely cheap based on the response of the cancellation fee. I wouldn't have told them about that part and get them cancel and request the XL one then they are on their way and not within earshot of whinging in your car and possible low rating.

At the end of the day its not worth taking some people and you pretty much had to cop that on the chin for wanting to not miss the fare. Earnings are hard to come by these day, but personal happiness is worth more than the crumbs Uber pays to put up with some s#!t.

These days, my wife and I travel by air with one small bag each weighing no more than 7 kilograms. We manage perfectly well.
Umm the reason wouldn,t be , driving , for uber , you perhaps have caused this careful "weight management"program.
I personally hope, it,s because your wife is A keen shopper, and manages weight distribution for the return trip ?
Trying to be Diplomatic, given your place of residence
