So at 4:30 am this morning, I pick up a dude and 2 girls going to a spot about 12 miles, 32 minutes away. They aren't obnoxious drunks and the trip is ok. I play some a heavy dose of mid 2000s hip hop during the ride. At one point, the dude is critiquing my taste. Apparently being from NYC, I should only play music from NYC based rappers like Jay Z and Nas(artists I have but just didn't feel like jamming to atm). Other than this, decent trip. At the end of the trip, the girls get out and the guy says to me" I will rate you 5 stars if you rate me 5 stars". And he stays in my car. So I end the trip, show him my phone, slide to 1 star and tell him have a nice day. He leaves in shock. Most likely gives me a 1 star as I see my rating drop soon after but it is well worth it. And the funny thing is I would have given him 5 stars if he didn't try to pull that. For a moment I thought to give him 5 stars and retroactively change it to 1 star a day later but what fun what that be. You gotta show some of these pax who is in charge. I'll take the 1 star. No ****s given.

Awesome move! Reminds me of when the garbage man leaves your can sideways or the hotel maid just piles your old socks instead of folding them. You showed them. Often I feel ashamed of driving for Uber but you make it like being a superhero. I am sure that pax is CRUSHED!

Next time instead of being a smartass just ask him "what is the exchange rate from stars to dollars". Nobody wants you to give a flock either but if you take your gun out atleast shoot the guy in the knee so he remembers for future rides instead of shooting yourself in the foot.

He would probably look at me confused if I said that. I can just 1 star him and say have a nice day like I did. Maybe next time he won't try that crap with another driver. Also I don't have to worry about my Uber rating from any individual rider. I get enough 5 stars to more than make up for the non 5 star trips.

I do hate riders like that. That's the kind of guy who goes to a restaurant and puts 10 $1 bills on the table at the start of a meal and tells the server he will take away a bill for every perceived slight in service.

Great story. But ya know, this is just me, but I would of given this guy his 5 and let him give me his. This kinda crap means nothing to me. Ride is over and this person is out of my life forever. If the ride was OK otherwise, it's no skin off my ass for doing what he asked. I do rideshare because it is easy and in most cases completely stress free, at least compared to my full time job. I'd like to leave it that way. This guy could of reacted very ugly, and who needs that.

Maybe he has been screwed with 1 stars for the petty reason of no tip so now it worries him. If the ride was fine I would have no problem with the exchange. Now if he was an ass and pulled that then I would have done the same.

Very silly of you. A 1star against you means a lot more than one against him. I'm not even sure why him asking you that question offended you so much. Just have fun with it and move on. He probably reports you to uber now for being drink or unprofessional and gets you deactivated.

I had a real maniac about a year ago. The guy was an ex-ncaa linebacker or something and he really cared about his 5 star perfect rider rating. He asked me to go through the Cookout drive-thru and tried balancing his drink on his knee while being drunk and on the phone (he took offense when I put it in the obvious cup holder for him). He went on bloviating about how he tips all his Uber drivers and takes care of them. When the trip was over, he just said "so...." and refused to get out of the car until I rated him a 5. And no tip.

Made a calculated decision not to provoke this drunk, muscle-bound gorilla in front of him and drove off. This was not the end though. A few minutes later this white truck speeds up behind me and nearly runs me off the road. It is the same guy trying to get me to pull over.... because he forgot to give me my 2 dollar tip lol.

Should have called the police to report a drunk driver in retrospect but was satisfied enough to report him to Uber and get his rating changed a day or two later.

Then he said " I will rate you whatever you rate me". Saying it on the forum is tough but he basically threatened to rate me lower unless I gave him 5 stars. And I wasn't having that. So I had some fun with it.

I've only had 1 passenger ask me that and they were a bunch of drunk Irish lads who were loud and annoying singing Irish folk tale songs coming from the bar. They had a 3.3 rating, I had a slow night and needed my adrenaline pumping so I said why naht.
