This is a warning to Rideshare drivers picking up and dropping off passengers at the Rahway, New Jersey Transit train station. Be very careful where you park at the Rahway Train Station to pick up or drop off your riders. Rahway Police are mailing out parking summonses costing $45.00 to any Rideshare driver other than a marked taxi cab. The Rahway Police were contacted and it was advised that Only marked taxicabs can legally pick up or drop off riders using the curbside parking spaces located near the entry stairways and exit stairways. If this keeps up, riders may have to be advised to meet their Rideshare drivers across the street.
Is anyone else having this problem in their areas of operation? How have you resolved this if you have?
Our pax's, can you imagine having to ask your intended rider to walk of drag their luggage across the street to keep from getting a traffic summons for parking in a convenient curbside pick up zone?

I guess the question seeking an answer is: Are Uber or Lyft drivers considered to be in the same category with a commercial taxi cab or livery driver? Why would it be illegal or a traffic violation to for a Rideshare driver to pick up a scheduled and requesting passenger curbside?
