I accepted a ride today that was about a mile away. Five minutes tops.

I immediately get a text saying the wait is too long and I need to cancel the ride.

Ignored it, parked outside her front door for five minutes, took the fee and another ride in seconds.

You want the ride cancelled lady? Cancel it

The driver should have adamantly stated he is paid by Uber and cannot accept payment from the pax. That would get him fired. What she pays is between her and Uber. The drivers have no say in the fares. If she wants an Uber ride home, she needs to request one again. Then the driver could accept it, or let it go to another lucky driver.

This woman is a piece of work. Kudos to this guy, he kept his cool but gave it back to her near the end. I may send back my forward facing dashcam to get a Vantrue or Crosstour incase I get someone like this.
Not the right way to handle it. When she refused to get out, I would have called the police. Driving her to the precinct would have been considered kidnapping.

I agree not the right way to handle it. You wound up giving her a free ride closer to her destination with zero penalty to her.

Calling the police immediately after she cancels and refuses to remove her disgusting self from the car is the right way.

The best way to handle it is to U turn and drive her in the opposite direction of her destination.

Then he immediately picks up two small children without car seats. WOW. Uber loves drivers like this guy.

How seriously do/will police, state or local, respond to a rideshare incident?

I hope quickly, but some or many cabdrivers years ago claimed if we had our yellow emergency lights blinking on the roof or called the dispatcher for help with a problem pax, it wasn't high priority. With cell phones, now, maybe it's easier when we call 911 ourselves. But is it truly considered high priority by police if it's "only" a rideshare driver?

Things I would have said/done.

1. Stopped the car.
2. State that because you cancelled the trip I no longer need to provide a service to you and that YOU are now trespassing on my property. Get out.
3. Called 911.

Any movement of my car without insurance coverage is a risk I won’t take.
