The BELLMAN!

That's right, I arrive to pick-up this sack of ####. She opens my door to ask if I have change. I told her "no," but she managed to gather money to tip the bellman anyways.

She gets in, no address but she's only going 3 miles to another Galleria hotel.

More low-end pax clogging the system.

Hope you were charging her .18 cents a minute wait time while waiting for her to tip the Bell Boy.

But hey, she offered to tip. I wouldn't tip $20 for a short trip like that either. $10 would be a fair rate. I'd be happy with $5. Tips are tough. People don't carry cash like the old days. That's what sucks the most.

Realistically, if people don't have cash to tip they should order Select at the very least.

Why tip the driver? I mean, all they're doing is transporting you safely in their own vehicle on their own time for peanuts while taking all the risks. How does that merit gratitude? It's Uber! You don't tip in an Uber regardless of the circumstances. IT'S UBER!

Pax asked if I had change for a $20, told him I don't carry cash. His buddy tells him, oh that's okay, I'll cover it .... Then gives me a 20. For a 3 mile ride.

In hindsight, I think both were confused how it works, thought they were paying for the ride. I luv stupid pax.
Once they realized they were charged and how cheap the ride actually was, before having a chance to think about it logically, they were inflicted with a form of brain damage.

You're absolutely right...a bell boy's job is MUCH more critical than a lowly Uber driver's....lol

He looked pissed cuz he had no excuse for not tipping

Sorry, but I don't get this attitude. You just got a 500% tip and the best you can say is the pax was an idiot? When you go to Starbucks do you tip the Barista every time?

I think what the original poster is saying is, The passenger opened the car door and asked the Uber driver to change a $20 bill so she can tip the Bellboy at the hotel. The tip is not for the driver. He never got tipped.

I get that, I was talking about what More Cowbell said:

Not too clear what I was replying too. I just think everyone on this board gets way too wound up about tips. Uber did a great job deluding passengers into thinking that the "tip is included" and now some drivers get pissy with pax when they don't tip. I think the best thing we all can do is be BETTER THAN, which isn't hard, than cabs. One of the reasons I do Uber is I like Houston, I like talking to people and I don't mind driving. Uber clearly is a technology company and the drivers are simply cogs in the wheel. If you can make peace with that I think you can live a little easier with doing it.

Not a fan of Starbucks burnt beans, but I always tip other barristers, waiters, waitresses, pizza or Chinese delivery guys, barber, bartender, bellboys, & yes, taxi drivers when I use to take them. Always.

My post said I believed they thought they were paying for the ride+tip.

I am not THIS big a Jackass, but I almost feel like asking the server, "Hey do you ride Uber?" If they say yes, no tip.
Uber has completely done as they claim, Turned the world upside down.

You sound more like an uber employee than a driver. They make you work on sundays too? Nice going, must be a fat bonus for messing around the drivers in the forum.
