What was racist about what they were saying?
Professional cab drivers support the controversial stands of their passengers, they are in it for the tips.Last night... this makes me very uncomfortable and outraged.
What is protocol for this?
Are you saying that they were Supporting trump and that made them them racist? Or were they actually making racist comments? You might want to clarify your thread statement. And if they were actually making racists comments, then exercise your right to refuse service. But again, your post is extremely vague and open to extreme interpretation.Last night... this makes me very uncomfortable and outraged.

This is something I tend to agree with. I'm not a thought cop. You have the right to believe what you want, even if you're horribly wrong. I'm not going to hold it against you, as I'm just here to give you a ride.Professional cab drivers support the controversial stands of their passengers, they are in it for the tips.
I remember picking up a trio of San Diego fans at 3 Rivers after the AFC Championship game at 3 Rivers. SD won of course, and the fans had a lot of controversial attitudes about their superiority. They asked me to drive by groups of dejected Pittsburgh fans, they rolled down the windows and hollered at them. No problem for a pro
Its all part of the professional livery business.
That's your right, and I support every driver's right to draw a line on pax behavior. That being said, I've given a pass to people making backhanded racist/desparaging comments about white people and Christians in my car. I happen to be both, but I also believe very strongly in people's freewill to make dumb choices and hold ignorant beliefs. That's their business.I tend to ignore the racist attitudes. Homophobia is a different story. I had a late night trip where they were dropping f word for gay men and the d word for lesbians. After 5 minutes, I just finally stated "Gentlemen, I take it you have been drinking tonight". They all stated they were. I continue to engage them by completely changing the subject. At that point I was able de-escalate them. My natural reaction was to tell them to get out of my car, but that would not have helped anyone and may have caused the situation to escalate more.
I did not feel it was directed towards me, but I could feel my Irish anger in me to start to well up and after I started to make small talk with them to veer them off course, if they would have continued, I would very politely ask them to exit the vehicle, but it got more mellow with them. Sometimes a knee jerk reaction is not required. That's your right, and I support every driver's right to draw a line on pax behavior. Once it gets personal, and they begin to direct it at me clearly, I will toss a person out.
I too despise ninjas. Sons of *****es.The only time I speak up is when people use the n word. Usually it's when I'm working the hood, and the pax wants the aux cord. That music is so impolite.
You drive them for free. What is protocol for this?
Well, the bait wasn't good. I think the most of us have had to deal with some level of unacceptable behavior from the passengers entering our vehicles. How we handle that behavior, personally, will determine plenty.I'm pretty sure this thread was nothing more than bait.
Gotta admit, it reeled me in.
Yeah, it's a legit topic, and I've seen good responses, but the alleged incident described in the OP probably never happened.Well, the bait wasn't good.
