Good question Ash! I focused on the issue that Uber has screwed the drivers' rates down and increased their fees and that any additional impost brought on by regulating the industry will be catastrophic to the drivers whose only income is from Uber. It will lead to drivers working unacceptably long hours which is dangerous for both the driver and the riders. My submission basically said that Uber must wear any additional costs and/or they must provide compensation by increasing the fares and reducing their fee commission. I tend to agree with John that it is a waste of time but at least I can whinge with a clear conscience.

I tried to ensure my submission didn't sound like a big whinge about money. Might as well howl at the moon for that! But the committee need to be aware that regulation cannot be enacted and the drivers expected to wear the cost. Because what will be left is drivers trying to do 60 hours a week which is a real safety concern. Mention safety to a committee and it gets noticed. In reality Uber can increase their fares and cover the additional costs without upsetting the customers by spreading a pile of BS around about how regulation will make them happier people, the weeds will die and the roses will smell nicer.
