I did rides to PA and I was willing to ride and today I have a ride to Philly airport and then my app turn off saying I was not authorizeto drive in PA , I call Uber CS and they say NJ Uber drivers are not allow to pick up in PA Connecticut and NY ( I know NY ) , so why they give us rides out State without they twisting our arms to take the rides out State ? Last ride to NY I was Stuck in traffic for 3 hours trying to come back to Jersey for 20 bucks , Why other states protect they Uber drivers but in NJ not one help us and Uber just take advantage of us , Independent contractors ?? But we don't have rights ??? Hummm

It's not the state, it's Uber trying to force NJ drivers into Philly and blaming the state for their attempt to forcible manipulate drivers into Uber's desired behavior.

If I'm wrong then why doesn't this supposed "law" - that no one can seem to find anywhere because no such law exists anywhere in NJ - also apply to Lyft... which it does not?

It could be an insurance thing. NJ commercial insurance requires a higher minimum coverage than surrounding states.

If you are registered in PA, you likely covered under uber's PA insurance policy. NJ commercial insurance requires a higher minimum coverage than surrounding states and likely costs more.

Uber doesn't provide TLC insurance, so they don't care if TLC plated vehicles operate out of the 5 boroughs.

I'd tell the pax, sorry, I can't work in that state. Your choices are take another company or tip me enough in cash to make it worth it.
