My grandparents live off Miramar Dr so I am very familiar with the area. However, fares are mostly limited to Newport Pier and not necessarily the peninsula itself. The other issue with Newport is it being very 'funnel'y. You're funneled to one area and then trying to get back is almost pointless due to distance. At least with other coastal cities like Hermosa and the like, it is much more open.
