Sure:
  1. Stay out of the ghetto.
  2. Do not unlock your doors until you are sure you want that rider in your car.
  3. If you see someone approaching your car who makes you feel unsafe, just drive away and cancel.
You have no obligation to pick up any passenger who makes you feel uncomfortable for any reason.

I am a person who wears a hoodie 24/7 and all black. I have a full beard and feel hella judged reading this. My advice is don’t be so judgmental over the rare things that happen to very few people but overly talked about in the media. Most people (including suspected drug dealers) are generally decent people.

Sorry (kinda) to rant!

i appreciate the feedback, i try not to judge and i dont treat those passengers differently but it just makes me feel nervous. The ghetto parts of the city are where the most fares are and its a money maker ($1700) a week. not judging just being cautious

Well, sorry but I do judge. And I think that anyone who is honest with themselves and others will admit they do too.
I use all of the tools at my disposal to insure my safety. One of them is my eyes, another is my brain. People who dress in all black, wear hoodies all the time, have gang tats, hang their pants down around their ass, wear red shoes and hang out on street corners ... sorry, I judge them to have more potential for violence than someone dressed in a bright summer dress with a pretty handbag.
If you don't wanna be treated like a predator, don't present yourself like a predator - because I will believe you.
But, that's just me.
I'm old, and white .... so, therefore racist I'm sure.

I wouldn't put my wife in a car with some mug sporting a ZZ Top beard and black hoodie. I'd tip him $5 and send him away.
I am what I am and that's all what I am.
