Don't Fall Behind
Stay current with a recap of today's Tech News from Digital Trends.

Uber is introducing a new driver-monitoring feature sure to arouse mixed feelings among its drivers, according to the Wall Street Journal. Most drivers probably will welcome additional information about customer ratings, but at the same time may feel they're being monitored too closely.

There will be at least two sets of cities involved in testing new driver monitoring systems. In each case, the drivers' smartphones will be used both to collect and transmit the data and to report to the drivers.

Related: How much do Uber drivers really make?

In New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and at least six other cities, drivers will receive reports after each trip on how smooth their driving was, including scores for acceleration and braking. If the drivers go over the speed limit, Uber will send an immediate alert, not waiting for the after-trip report. If that sounds Big Brother-ish to you, you're not alone.

Here's a funny joke for you! In San Diego, if you're going 80 miles / hour on the 5 frwy, you're driving too slow for everybody else...
Agreed - going the speed limit on surface streets means you are going to get tailgated by morons who think that it will intimidate you into speeding up. Very similar to the way Google self driving cars get rear ended by idiots at stop signs because they aren't expecting them to actually stop at the signs.

Uber's young geeks are getting ideas above their station with this. It is reminiscent of Scooby Doo. Driver: "My last ride would have been fine had it not been for those meddling kids".

I can already see the email that will hit the inbox:

"Get to know a few smart, passionate Uber partners and learn why they're choosing to drive with less frequent stops to the restrooms, just like you should. Stay in the driver seat, not on the toilet seat. You will be well on your way to earning $100 more this week!"

Driver seat, toilet seat! Is that why they changed their logo to this? :)

Probably. Have you ever asked for directions to the restroom at the Pyramid? Hohoh... go here go here and go here. Almost like they really don't want to encourage the practice of going.

Uber would prefer us to urinate in our empty Starbucks cup while we are waiting at a red light on our way to a passenger pick up.
No rest for the weary. Hop to it !
