Yes, on a 3pm to midnight guarantee, he's shorting himself a full hour of pay by logging off for the small increments of time. Might as well take a 59 minute break throughout the night or quit at 11:01pm, it will all total the same in the end...8hrs worked not 9hrs. 8:59hrs worked doesn't qualify for full 9hr guarantee.
