I'm hearing the checks are bouncing from rust. They've done this in the past. Waiting to see if it clears my bank.

My Asian friend cashed a settlement check today at the check-cashing store in Dorchester, amounting to about 5k; he has been driving Uber Black since 2013.
No problem at all.
He needs money right away to go to Australia for vacation. He does not want the bank to delay.
I said Why is he stupid paid $150cashing fee?
He is leaving tomorrow and needs money right away.

It is good to have multiple bank accounts, same with owning properties... some oversea and some at home.

you don't want to put all eggs into one basket.

I heard even with the most reliable banks like bank of america, citizen bank and well fargo that funds can get stolen by an insider job or by a scam that use your stolen identity to draw money out. therefore, it is good to have a US bank, Swiss bank, Hong Kong bank and Thailand bank etc..

Rust Consulting's checks have bounced in some high-profile cases, such as foreclosure settlement checks in 2013 and Equifax settlement checks in 2023, due to issues like insufficient funds in the settlement account, clerical errors, or expired check validity. If you received a bounced check from Rust Consulting, you should contact them directly, as they will re-issue the check and can help with any fees incurred.

In doing some searching about on Rust Consulting it looks to me like administering legal settlements is their thing. And on a very large scale. It looks like they are the go to organization for this. When military persons had their homes taken in foreclosure there was a legal action. The government hired Rust to handle the disbursement of the funds.

Service Members' Compensation for Unlawful Foreclosures Under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act Rises to $311 Million

I would not say there is anything corrupt or incompetent is Rust. It's just a huge project they handle and things will go wrong.

They administered settlement payments during the foreclosure crisis many years ago, and there was an issue of many checks bouncing because of some sort of an administrative error. The company ended up reissuing new checks to everybody affected. So they didn’t even bounce due to lots of money. This other dude is just clueless or intentionally spreading false information. Either that, or he didn’t get any payment at all, and is jealous of everybody else. Probably took the lazy way out and collected unemployment during the pandemic time in question.
