I’m sorry to do this, it’s completely off-topic. I tried posting in the regional threads, but it’s dead there. Hoping I might have better luck here.

I’m looking for anyone in the Roanoke area who would be kind enough to help me with my already scheduled road trip. I NEED TO SEE FALL FOLIAGE IN THE MOUNTAINS!

My last successful attempt was 2016 with a massive TN-VA trip, and even thenthe Southern half of it was so-so.

I’ve been going every year at different weeks in October and though I switch it up I’m either too early or too late.

I need someone to tell me in real time “it’s NOW!”

To me, it’s proven to be draining financially and this year I just can’t afford wasting money for nothing. Much as I love going to VA, I was just there, so unless I’m catching the breathtaking vistas I’d rather not go till winter.

Maybe someone not from the area knows someone personally in the area? Maybe someone’s in Staunton or anywhere else near the Blue Ridge Parkway or Skyline Drive (and I’ll just add a couple of days to your peak season).

I know this seems trivial to grownups, but this is very important to me. It’s difficult to explain, but there are few things that bring me inner peace, and this is one of those things.

At this point I’m looking at the week of the 23rd, but the leaves are already turning on the Joizee Shore, so I’m worried I’ll miss it yet again.

Again - sorry for the off-topic.

Well, I went different weeks between 10/14-11/1. And I either come too early or too late. This is why I want to pinpoint it this time or not go at all.

Last year I went around 10/25 and everything was VIVID green. I think I saw a couple pale yellow trees.

The year before went around 10/31 and everything was bare already.

The only time I caught a good time was a massive TN-VA 2-week trip in 2016, it started exactly mid-October. TN and NC were meh - still mostly green, even in thr mountains, but VA showed me some color.

The year after that went at the same time - nothing. So I kept switching weeks and just never could nail it.

As I said, I love VA, soit wasn’t a problem; but I was literally just there September 8-ish, so unless the colors are on display I’d rather skip it and go in the winter.

But I can’t find anyone in Roanoke to look out their window and give me the scoop. 😂
