Nope. They are quite smart. They just say that is their commission and they take care of sales tax. So when there is no sales tax, They get a little more.

Exactly, lyft doesn't call it sales tax

Lyft is very sneaky, I think if we all email them they might stop doing that, if they are faced with a class action lawsuit they will be required to payback all the tax money they have pocketed on interstate trips.

Class action lawsuit shud me done on uber and juno for charging the driver the sales tax instead of the pax.

I've wondered about this as well. I think Gett does in fact pass it on to the passengers. Albany doesn't care who pays the tax as long as someone is paying it. It will take someone or a group of drivers to take Uber and the other apps to court or maybe contacting the NY Attorney General.

Good luck finding a group of stand up drivers amongst a bunch of sit down complainers
