Now we have to take service dogs or be deactivated if complaint

Settlement today. Is this only blind people or service dogs for any disability?

People buy the service dog vest and patches on eBay so they can take their dog everywhere. People even buy this for pitbulls and are not service dogs. It's against the law to ask for proof or the disibility.

I would rather take 100 fake service dogs in my car than inconvenience one disabled person who truly needs that animal with them at all times. Unless the government comes up with a better system (and requiring documentation is a difficult thing for me to get behind--God forbid it gets left on the plane or such, and there would still be fake documents out there) then this is what we have. Everyone needs to just deal with it if they run a business.

If the dog makes a mess or damages the car, then go after the owner through Uber and small claims court if necessary. I know the latter is probably a losing proposition, but it's no different than if a drunk pax damages your car. If Uber paid enough to deal with those occasional incidents, we wouldn't get so upset about them. It's simply a risk taken in any business.

You people saying you will drive away if you so much as see a dog are scum. Period. You have no way of knowing if it's a service animal, although if it misbehaves, that's a good indication it's not. And you don't need to take it then anyway.

If you have life threatening allergies then do all you can to control them. I have severe asthma. It sucks. Luckily I'm not THAT allergic to dogs and my allergy shots have helped a lot. I honestly would not do this job if dogs were life threatening to me. Frankly, for me, smokers are a much bigger problem. My cancellation rate would deactivate me if I refused every smoker, unfortunately. Before allergy shots I would NOT be able to do this job. There are no shots for smoke (it's an irritant, not an allergen, but my allergies used to already have my lungs on alert so to speak) but the allergy shots have calmed everything down, thank goodness.

If your allergies can't be controlled, and you want to do this job then hopefully you can get documentation that shows YOU are disabled by it and need accommodation. That would be no animals in your car. It should go both ways. But if it's not a severe allergy deal with it. I have no sympathy.

What was deleted was my statement saying I hope none of you ever end up needing a service dog or ESA.
this led me to believe you have an ESA my apologizes if not.

Nicely stated. Thank you.

Unfortunately if it is a service dog who messes up the car, the driver cannot claim any cleaning fees. If it destroys the car, they can recover costs. or at least in Colorado they can. The law clearly states owners of service dogs are liable for any damages by the dog. But not for cleaning fees.

Re your comment on smokers, you accept them but you don't let them smoke in your car do you? You just have to tolerate their smell.
I'm still confused. If someone enters your establishment and claims their dog is a service dog (not ESA) and can answer the two questions with yes and a legit task, what grounds does the health department have to close you down?
Really?!? in this country if you don't understand or didn't know about a law and you break it you still guilty.
True story :
One time I almost drove a dog from La Verne to San Francisco

The owner decided instead to fly with the dog ( I drove them to ONT)
I wasn't good enough for the dog

It cost the owner 1600.00 round trip last minute reservation
I quoted 1200.00 for me to drive the dog ?

Morale : dogs have more disposable income than humans
Smart bussiness people capitalize on it

Apology accepted. If you saw my first posting here i stated clearly I am a uber and lift driver as well as a pax and I have a service dog that rides with me when I drive and when I'm a pax. If you also read on, I do my very best not impose on anyone because I need a service dog. I have no sense of entitlement. To me this is my normal. I just get tired of judgements and what if scenarios of these postings when they are posting about hypotheticals. It's postings from people who never had a pax with a dog but quick to judge. You were put in an unfortunate situation with faker. It appears and I could be wrong that situation left a bad taste in your mouth leaving you suspect that unless the patron has advisable disability such as being blind or deaf, they are a faker. I assure you that's not the case. Service dogs can be trained to do amazing things for their humans. They are little angels sent from God to help us live as normally as everyone else.
Its only advise

Any good manager or bussiness owner gets it.
Oh I get it, it just clearly doesn't apply to this situation. Should I forego the dozen customers for the one that disrupts my business? would you retain a pax that does that every time they're in your car?

There used to be a private jet service to fly your dog to your destination and get them cleared through whatever paperwork required. I don't know if they are still around. But I thought it was awesome to have your dog fly in a private Lear jet while owner firs coach.

There is a doggie spa in Scottsdale with a bone shaped pool. I'm not even going to discuss the cost of of the spa treatments for the dogs.

I'm embarrassed to admit this but even my grandmother was a bit extravagant when it came to my previous Westie. She bought her a diamond dog necklace and crocodile collar and lead. The collar and lead set was $750. Don't even know how much the necklace was.

People do love their dogs and some take it to extremes. Some accuse me of doing that too. But Mattie takes care of me in return.

This is a legitimate request and you took it up, like I said I have never refused any animal in my car, cats, dogs, whatever, but the thread is about handling service animals, and I have only stated facts, for those that want to know about it. The outcome depends on the situation. An animal in a food service establishment of any kind is a no no in every state regardless what you feel about it.

The way you talk is that this is constant issue you face. Or was it just the one single customer?
I serve 1800 customers per week. Sorry but your math is just wrong.

That's interesting because the major super market chain in Colorado Kings Soopers (part of Kroger) allows dogs in their store. Any dog in their store. Not just service dogs. Their position is that they feel the dog is also part of the community and wouldn't want an idiot owner leave Fido in the car on a hot day endangering the dogs life.

I'm in that 15%

I get special treatment everywhere I'm known
Trust me I know you know I know you know

Sounds about right. The dogs did their job well by training their human properly. As it should be.

Mattie eats very well herself. I only feed her the best dog food on the market. Only two places in town carry it. All organic natural food. Finally found a place to get USA chicken jerky at reasonable price. But those are her snacks. She eats what momma eats most of the time. She loves Scottish smoked lox - that's her all time favorite food. Also loves crab and lobster. Another favorite is spaghetti and meat sauce. She slurps up the noodles and her face gets all red from the sauce. My previous Westie had serious health issues so I had to make her food. She ate lamb and organic veggies.
