With the #DeleteUber campaign and the plethora of bad press Uber/Travis ha been getting the time is NOW! to pressure Uber to add a tip feature.
How does one start a campaign like this? If we could get it to trend on Twitter? The main stumbling block had been Travis' personal objection to the tipping culture.
For a true cashless experience Uber needs to add tips in the app.
I don't know how to make anything go viral, but consider a campaign of #TipOurUberDrivers made at twitter, amplified by "Thunderclap" (
https://www.thunderclap.it/about) and then "subscribed to" by Uber Drivers and their friends and families recruited at reddit, and facebook ridesharing groups.
Get a very diverse group of drivers of all ages, races, religions, etc. to send in selfies of themselves in their uber and at home, school, or work all tagged with #TipOurUberDrivers
+ housewives in front of their kids
+ retirees driving around well clothed young millennials
+ "disadvantaged" college students in classrooms
+ drivers with their cars at the car wash and driving out of a tire store with new tires
Take the best of those selfies, get someone with a good voice to make several 30 second video slideshow of them
+ I enjoy driving, and so does my family
+ I enjoy driving, but the rates have gotten lower
+ I enjoy driving, and it helps pay for my schoolbooks
+ I enjoy driving, but the costs keep going up
If you get traction for that and it looks good, shout it out to twitter journalists at Pando, Buzzfeed especially, Guardian, HuffPo and ask them to tweet about the campaign or write an article about it.
If I knew how to make videos I'd be doing that.
