Florida's out of range for them... but they easilty could lob an atmospheric high over LA and take out all the cars (and ATMs, and TV, and radio, and cell phones, and Alexa) with EMP. Just an old tramp steamer 75 miles off shore couldn't miss.
That would be a REAL disaster.... hope you have an old, naturally aspirated non-EFI pickup parked out behind the garage... you could still drive, gas would be real cheap, but no ride hailing without cell phones....

Despite what people think you cant just lob ICBMs any time you want, they leave earths atmosphere and have to reEnter bigger deal then just lauching a conventional from a few hundred miles.

If your phone doesnt work likely you electronic ignition system wont either, only engines with carbs and points under the rotor cap will run

Bout 20 years ago a bunch of cars shut off near my dads place in Mexico. It was like a wave started south headed north about 15-20 miles. My dads truck was electronic ignition it shut off but he was able to restart it a few minutes later. Later talking to other people he learned it wasn't just his truck. He thought it was a fluke.

It was weird, happened in the early afternoon. There's not a lot of people around here so it wasn't till later that they put two and two together and came up with cuatro.
It did shut off 6-7 cars at once on the highway and thats what got everyone talking. Cars shut off a couple miles on either side of the highway.
Cars shut off all the time around here so no individual driver thought anything weird, except the ones on the highway.
