I got a 4x surge around 10:15pm at Harrah's. The Paxs initially wanted to go to the Metropolitan Club and when we arrived, it was closed. As a result, they asked to be taken back to their hotel on Decatur. Oddly though, I got a stacked ping one block away (after only driving 10 minutes) and there was no surge on that fare. It seems suspect to me because I saw it was very red in the Quarter (4x+ throughout the whole FQ) for about 10-15 minutes and then 10 minutes later the surge evaporated. I would expect at least a 1.5x surge. But my fare review shows no surge on that Pax.

 In my Humble Opinion. I believe that once it is no longer considered "Cool" to drive for Uber and more drivers realize it is at best a Minimum wage job after expenses that the number of drivers will drop off. There is already a lot of Media attention on how Uber drivers are being taken advantage of. People are already asking me about this. Uber has led the riders to think we the drivers are getting rich and somehow "tips" are included. Some riders are even surprised when they learn that we have to buy our own gas. This always amazes me given the fact that the fares are so cheap. But hey everybody loves a bargain.

I came into it thinking we were a cheaper alternative to taxis. I've spoken with some taxi drivers at the cell lot and some of the uber drivers that used to be taxi drivers and it looks to me that if you want to drive full time, taxi is the way to go. If you want to drive part time, fast food is the way up go. It's really not even worth it to put the wear and tear on my car and the depreciation due to additional miles. I'm getting out of it this week. After a year and a half, it's just not worth it.
