Uber is like the batshit nuts girlfriend with an erratic Cluster B personality disorder. On Monday she phones you 20 times, then she ignores you for the rest of the week.

The behaviour you describe of all-or-nothing-at-all regarding reservations is characteristic of Uber. One night you get bombarded, then it could be crickets the next night, or all next week. Reservations, like Uber itself, are not a reliable source of income, and should not be counted on.

I opted in for a few reservations a week ago because they were decent money in an area I like to drive in (nice pax and decent roads). So, uber bombards me with new reserve trips too.
BUT…I get really frustrated when I accept a reservation and then Uber:
1: Sends me to the pickup WAY too early
2: Offers trips that will make me miss the reservation
And if that doesn’t happen, then I get 2 miles away from the pickup and the pax cancels at the last minute.

So, I might accept one, but it’s rare that it actually works out well

 

There are many stipulations that goes with these reservation trips. Uber wants you to be 30-40 minutes online, arrive early and wait.. and if the pax cancel, you don't get cancellation fee. Uber pays you just a little more than a normal trip, not significantly more..

I have seen reservation trips get tossed into the trip radar pile as a priority trip because no one wants it.

For the most last year, uber stopped giving me reservations because I don't do them and I never clicked to check the tab

I joined uber/lyft before covid---6+ years ago.

I did less than 10 trips this year. You can count that as I completely stopped(quit) uber this year. I used my time to focus on my stock trading profession. For me, it is totally worth it because of the amount of money I made compared to uber.

When I think about it, it sometimes pisses me off because of the missed opportunities in the stock market several years ago. To make good money in the stock market, you need to formulate a holy grail strategy like what I did.

 

Some drivers never get enought money to invest. Even with good pay as home ownership is kinda hi. Especially with a family.you said you don't own a home before. Most drivers cannot be full-time investors. Not just drivers. Most workers.

 

Is there any way to turn off reservations at all? I'm actually getting a ton and I don't want any at all.

 

Accept a few and just don't turn up. They'll stop sending them.
