It's my first post lol and I want to share and ask your opinion. My issue is about finding anything when a rider leave and dropping that off to him. I noticed that we go out of our way and they don't show any gratitude. For example, few times I return 600-700 dollars phone and no rider ever bother to pay anything. If I was on their place just in happiness I pay 40-50 bucks as I get my expansive phone. But almost 90% of rides are so cheap. Now I decide if I find something it will go into garbage unless they come to my home and pick it up. How to deal with this situation

Hameed that is very rude of you
part of being professional is taking the good with the bad, if you start to cherry pick, then we will just be like taxi drivers

pls try to be profesional

just like you my brother, I have returned things of great value numerous times to my customers

We aren't doing social service. They don't show any gratitude for extra favor. Throwing in garbage was just an expression but I can't go out of my way to return things. Believe me I wasted a lot of time retiring things. It's business and time is money. I am not cruel just professional where my time has a value.

Dump it near a green hub or police station when it's on the way.
This^^^ and if you got call tell from rider tell them I'll bring your phone for 40 dollar or if you are not happy you can dump it to green hub or closest police station to you!
What usually i do when pax leaving the car I look at the back seat to make sure they didn't leave anything behind. Mostly drunk riders forget their phone.

I don't bother to contact Uber, I don't bother to contact Pax. As my regular job is near to the hub in Scarborough, I just drop there.
Couple weeks ago, I dropped two cellphones, a stroller and a set of keys. The reception lady was like: "You again?" Time and gas are money and I dont have money to waste with these ungrateful brats.

The $15 per return has been announced but not implemented yet. Looks like it will start in October.
Even if this rule was in place, still bad for drivers. Imagine you live in Brampton and had to return something in Pickering?
Not worth it. Just keep the item in your car and when you have time and opportunity, drop at a hub location. Neat and easy.

I believe Uber now charges a fee for the return of lost items.
Somebody with more knowledge than I can give you better advice on how to claim it.
The advice I can give is to never allow a pax to find out where you live.
Problem is modern smart phones have gps tracking. People can track them all the way to your home. You might not even know it is in your back seat.

Do you know if that's still possible if phone is turned off?
No, the phone can't be tracked when it's shut off. What will show up is it's last known location, which is where it was shut off.

When I discovered a phone before, I shut it off, mostly because it kept ringing. Plus it's someone else's private stuff. None of my business. Shut it off, and brought it to a police station when it was convenient, usually within a couple of hours.

Edit: Also, checking the back seat when they exit helps avoid this whole situation.

Yes. We had a guy who was adamant that his phone was in one of our cabs even though the driver had checked the whole vehicle over and said he couldn't find anything. The guy was tracking his lost phone with an app on his other phone and it was showing that the phone was at our garage.
He came to the garage and asked to look at the cab he had been in. Just to satisfy him we said go ahead have a look. It was a Dodge Grand Caravan with the stow and go seats. Somehow his phone had gotten under the stow and go flap and had fallen into the cavity underneath. No way the driver would have thought to look that thoroughly, so yes it sure is possible (and a good idea to have a tracking device the way people lose their phones constantly). My response was to the op as being good advice in general to not let pax know where you live. It's prudent to never let pax come to your address for anything.

Android phones always have tracking enabled (as long as you're signed in to a google account). I've used it once when I thought I left it at a friends, he said no, and it showed that it was in fact at my house (in my coat pocket. And, yes, I'm dumb sometimes). It's called Find My Device.

This is good advice, and another reason why I shut off lost phones. Not because I have nefarious plans, but because I want to return it in my own time, without any bother coming to my home. Which I have done, promptly (I live close to a police station)

one piece of advice. turn ur ass around after every pax leaves and take a 5 second check in the back seats if they left anything. that will avoid having to return things. just turn ur neck. are you guys lazy??? even if you have a next ping waiting right after , its a few seconds to check. which will save you more time the future....

common sense isnt common
