Well so far this thread has only you and me... but other threads might have disparaging remarks towards n00bs.
Some warranted, others not.

There can be misplaced anger... some people might wrongly vent just because of the deterioration of driving for Uber.

I advise you to read heavily all throughout the site. Many questions already have answers.

Good luck.

Yeah surging is freaking awesome, but some areas aren't surging all day everyday. You get stuck with some non-surge's sometimes. Plus if you want to make money, you'll everything you can get. I don't know about you but im not saying to money.
Its not all about the money, your car is going to need replacing too. Think about that. Those miles you put on it aren't free.

Idk just from what I've seen on this thread about driving tendencies, too many new drivers, etc.
First, Welcome to the forum.

Second, Don't take all the negative noobs post personally. It's a generalization.

You've made it to the best spot to learn how to get the biggest bang for your buck. There are many people that can help you with any questions. I think many of the negative noob posts come into play because of the past, they post like they know it all. We really are here to help each other. Just don't get cocky in your posts otherwise pandemonium will break loose. LOL!!

Non surge rides give the illusion of money. If you factor in all costs, you are making less than minimum wage. Add to that the fact that you are wasting your time on something that won't look good on most resumes since any non brain-dead person can uber. Then add in the very real risks we run as drivers (read: accidents). I get it though. You're desperate for money.

I don't know about you but I took 4 non-surging rides in under an hour and made $40. Don't sound like minimum wage to me or my pocket.

Soul Brotha, welcome aboard.

Read as many posts as you can. Many posts are a good start to help you on your daily trip to make a living wage off of ubering. Believe half of what you read, and take them at their word only after you've tested/verified it for yourself.
Not everyone is out here to help you make money, but instead, dissuade you from driving for uber. Like you, we are all here to make money. Otherwise, we wouldn't put up with this shit, crappy pay, long hours, etc., etc.

If you drive UberX, don't log on, until you see the Uber Rider app show a 1.5x surge or higher. Then, you log on and work as usual. After your trip, check the Rider app and if there is no surge, log off, and repeat.

If you are UberPlus, search for the hot spots and go there. Never, ever, park on the same block as other drivers, unless its a hotel, convention or event going on. We call this "breathing room". One block away is fine, if anyone complains that you're blocking them off by being 1 block away, tell them to **** Off they don't own the city or have dibs on any place except for where their car is presently parked.

Don't do stupid stuff, 'cause uber can and will deactivate you. ie. You will stop making money by driving for uber.

Any specific questions, just go ahead and ask.

Wait till you do four $4 rides in an hour. At $2.40 per trip after Uber's cut, that's $9.60 to you before expenses. Uber on!
I already have, and although they are not the greatest, shit happens sometimes. Not to mention either way you look at it, thats $9 more in my pocket than I have an hour ago. Look man you can't expect to make $20/hr everyday for the rest of your life working for a ride share, life doesn't work like that. You complain and talk as if this is a full time job when its not man. It's great if you're a part timer witha day/night job, but if you rely on this as your sole money maker, you have a lot coming to you in the learning department man.

Wait until you figure out your expenses.
It probably won't be today, but one day.

At LA rates nonsurge, a one hour 60 mph trip will put a hearty $25 ish in your pocket... that'd be your true profit.

Wait for the math, and
Uber-on
