Hi fellow drivers, today i finally had the determination to wake up at 6:30am to chiong for the 7am-10am peak hour incentive... now that it's done, looking at my daily earnings tab, i realise i might have made a shitty mistake and would like to seek advice / clarifications from the seniors here.

So... i went online at 6:58am and immediately had a ping, my last trip was done at 9:34am and completed around 9:55am, waited till 10:03am to go offline. And when i did, a prompt came up asking if i would like to stay a further 10 minutes to complete an hour (??? o_O ???) i went offline anyway and checked my daily earnings, and it is as such:

Today's report card (as reflected from Uber app)

Time Online: 3 hrs 3 mins
Completed Trips: 5

Trip 1: 6:58am $13

Trip 2: 7:34am $9

Trip 3: 8:16am $16

Trip 4: 9:11am $7am

Trip 5: 9:34am $9

The rider for my Trip 1 only came onboard at 7:03am. The issue is, i'm just worried that Uber would only consider me 4 trips done instead of 5, cuz trip 1 is reflected as 6:58am... how ah? I have a feeling they might leh..

and let's say if i'm right (that uber will strictly start the incentive equation zhun zhun at 7am), i'm at least about to get 2 hours of gaurunteed fares right..? since 7:34 - 9:34 i picked up 4 riders.

Damn, abit sian!!! would appreciate if some seniors can educate me on this... cheers!

they look at the request timing not onboard timing, so you are right. they will only take 4 trips. anyway their support is F UP.

thanks for the reply, and confirming my suspicion. i woke up slightly late yesterday and only started at 8am sharp, and was 1 trip short of 4 to hit the 1.65 TPH (had a long ass trip from tampines to city, which took 40 mins!)... today i woke up fresh and hot, and thought it would be a good idea to start early to ensure i'm online throughout the 3 hours. which ended up becoming my mistake. zzz!! ok tomorrow i'll start zhun zhun at 7am!

for 7-10am , minimum online 2 hours, so if you online from 8-10am ( or abit more , like 5 mins more, but can not less than 2 hours ), at 1.65 TPH , u will get incentive if you manage to complete 4 trips ( 1.65 x 2 = 3.3 round up to 4 ). the most simple way to calculate is every trip you complete earn you 36 mins of incentive income , so 4 trips ie 4 x 36 = 144 mins , that is 2 hours (120 mins) 24 mins online time if you wanted to get full 100% of the incentive.

Choppiee, welcome to the reality of driving for Uber.

You just had your first taste of the many pitfalls that many newbies didn't know when they signed up for "$5000 guaranteed earnings".

If you are starting at 7am, the ping must come in after 7am (according to their clock, not yours) to be counted for incentives. Be mindful of the time blocks that Uber specifies.

If you can't hit the requirements, you would only be earning from the fares you made during the time block.

Eg. 7-10am, your total fares from trips 2 - 5 is $41. After 20% Uber deduction is $32.80. From here you deduct your petrol costs, ERP, maintenance, depreciation etc.

What is your earnings per hour? Only you can work out for yourself.

The 1.65 TPH has become a new obstacle for many drivers. I can't hit it on days when I get long trips with multiple dropoffs.

There are other more skilful drivers here that consistently hit the requirements every week. I salute them.

Read the other threads to find out how Uber calculates your time online and the incentives.

Within 2 weeks, you will know if driving Uber is right for you.

Yes, our stress cometh from the zillions of things to keep mind of.

Taxi, simply drive. Leave brains at home. Choose and pick your passengers. **** them if your mood is sour. When backside got banged claim victim gao gao. In short, all cabbies are kings of the transport world. How am I envious now.

Uber ah? You're all on your own, lah, bro! Jiak ga ki, bao gar liaw.

Ha ha!

Uber's TPH principles work well on short trips. Long trips are a bane.

If you need to earn incentives you need to hit the TPH and this is better achieved with multiple short rides. If you're lucky you may finished the minimum requisite number of trips before the hour block is up. In this case your immediate headache is to find a safe 避风港 to wait out the remaining minutes to maximise your hourly incentives and to safeguard your AR-CR numbers. Or if you're already contended with your lot then go offline and drink kopi lor. Ha ha!

But driver who doesn't believe in incentives and wants to earn his keeps with real fares long trips are necessary.

All in all, TPH and long trips are enemies on loggerheads. You can't put the two in the mix and hope they talk to each other nicely, haha!

Stick to Uber central - riders there are more likely to go on short to medium distance trips than crossisland journeys. Kena airport? Tough luck lor!

Uber central in my definition is the patch roughly between Clementi and Marine Parade.

I notice that u concentrate only on incentives. How do u control how u get short trips? Luck? Show us how much u can make on these incentives. Casino applies these exact theory. Honest people just want to earn fair amount for what effort they get. If u want incentives better go casino since they pay accordingly to what u bet.

True I work for incentives only. Ha ha!

True I couldn't pick short trips but I know where to camp in places where there is higher probability of riders going on short to medium trips lah. I used the word "probability" here because there is no certainty at all.

A lot of it is down to luck or opportune and some guesswork. Typical of driving Uber lor.

I roughly make about $7-8 per hour (nett, mind) if I am diligent. It's just about near my mental and body threshold and I wouldn't risk taking on more hours. As a modern Singaporean who doesn't buy PAP's GDP-at-all-costs economics ethos, I value good work-life balance wan.

True I am also looking for new work or opportunities even so I might still drive Uber (mindful of next year's PDVL requirement) on the side for the fun of driving.

All said life would be a lot joyful and contended if the thing that we love to do doesn't involve the responsibility of earning money. Money is a hardcore slave driver, I found out. Boo hoo Hoo! :(

hi all old birds, super new bird here. see the headline so thought will post my question here.

with the incentive by uber for tuesday 9th aug 2016 from 10am to 6pm is 30 an hour, then 32 an hour from 6pm to 10pm. if i drive from 10am to 7pm non stop and gotten 20 trips and fulfilled all the requirements of 80% 45% and 1,65 tph can i switch off my online status and rest for the remaining 3hours and still get all the guaranteed incentive per hour top up by uber for 10am to 10pm? total 12 hours but work only 7 to 8 hours and hit the tph. i asked uber and they told me can get the incentives as long as all the requirements fulfilled but i see many people saying need to be online all the way and hide to avoid pings? so who is right?

Study the incentives table carefully.

Decide which hours you want to be online. Consider each time block separately. To qualify for the incentives, you need to meet the following:
A) minimum number of hours for that time block.
B) trips per hour requirement
C) Acceptance Rate and Cancelation Rate for that week.
Eg. For 7am-10am (3-hour block) you must be online minimum 2 hours and complete 4 trips. If you manage to do that 4 trips in less than 2 hours, you can find a place to rest, but you MUST still be ONLINE for the remaining minutes until the exact 2 hours are up. During this rest period, Uber may still assign pings to you which you have to take unless you want to sacrifice your AR/CR.

Search for other posts which will explain better.

Bear in mind that the guaranteed fare is maximum amount of top up from Uber before 20% commission.

Eg. $35 x 2 hours = $70
If you completed 4 trips and the fare collected is only $56, Uber will top up $14. If you collect more than $70, great, but there will be no top up for you.

If you can't fulfill the requirements, you will only be left with whatever your fare was.

Regardless the amount, it is still subject to 20% deduction.
