Introducing rate changes and a more flexible way to make money with Quest
In September 2018, we increased the per-minute rate and minimum fare in hopes of making it more worthwhile to drive with Uber in LA. Unfortunately, these changes did not have the intended impact.
As a result, starting today we are further increasing the per-minute rate and reducing the per-mile rate and minimum fare. You can expect average driver earnings in LA to be comparable with other rideshare opportunities and pre-September average earnings.
We're committed to improving your driving experience in LA, increasing rider demand, and making sure you have flexible ways to make money.
New options for flexible earnings with Quest
Starting Saturday, March 16, you will be able to choose the Quest promotion that best fits your weekly driving schedule and trip goals. So no matter how much you drive, you'll have additional opportunities to make extra money and hit personal earning targets.
How rates will change starting March 11

New UberX Rate
Time: + 16%
Distance: - 25%

or

.7950 - 25% = .59625 ( hopefully they round to .60 )
.18 + 16% = .2088

I wont do poo.... Neither should you! ( Ok ants here you go )

New Uber Pool Rate
Time: + 5%
Distance: - 20%

Per Mile $0.75 - 20% = .60
Per Minute . $0.1425 + 5% = .1496

So if i am right, the miles on Uber Pool and Uber x will be the same.....

They are following the Gett model. Gett drivers operated in mostly Manhattan so they got paid by time. Uber obviously cares more about core metro rides instead of long rides. This is them gradually going towards a model where they expect most Uber drivers to do 90% short rides and 10% long rides.

Yep they haven’t updated it yet. I had a feeling this was coming, but was hoping not. What’s the new rates like .20c a min now and .60c a mile. Smh that’s sad as heck. Only making $1 more for time.
In a 10 mile trip taking 25 mins that’s $4 lost so yep looks like honghauling is ****ed now!

I had always thought that pool has matched rates for X that was the reason I didn't mind doing them. Before when they were paying less for time I was ignoring them and there was plenty of pings to go around.

Huge Paycut. Re-calculated my morning rides with the new rates...Massive pay cut. Makes more sense to use lyft.
Wow that's sad to hear. I hated Lyft for long trips felt like they were taking almost $7-12 away compared to Uber. Sucks to hear, but am usually pinged more on Lyft anyways.

So does it mean we are [email protected]@ked again??
Yes. They made is sound like it's our fault:

"In September 2018, we increased the per-minute rate and minimum fare in hopes of making it more worthwhile to drive with Uber in LA. Unfortunately, these changes did not have the intended impact. "

In other words, because you lazy pieces of sh** did not take advantage of this, we are just going to knock everything down and you will earn less than what you were making in September & get screwed like other cities across the country.

They DID NOT say "to keep earnings consistent", which is the BS used in other markets.

Oh well, more Lyft it is, unless Uber is surging.

The dashboard has not been updated. I'm looking there, since they didn't mention anything about XL in the email. Both X & XL in my dash have the old rates as of this comment.

Lyft pays the same for "their shared rides"

So current rates is what I posted as that's what they have on the website...

.7950 - 25% = .59625
.18 + 16% = .2088

Old Rates 30 mile trip that takes 40 mins = 23.85 + 7.2 = 31.05
New Rate 30 mile trip that takes 40 mins = 17.89 + 8.35 = 26.24

DANG UBER.....

All the while... Lyft has not change their rates and left everything alone #deleteuber

Has Poo always paid less than X or is this something new as well?
Never did a poo ride & only X I've done is >1.8 surge.
Yes they have....

This is a huge paycut for X drivers, 2019 is going to see masses of x drivers quit like they did in 2016

How is a rate cut going to make it more worthwhile to drive?LMAO!
MASSIVE... On an example i did, it was a 4.81 loss...
Going to have to recalculate the X surge now...

they had already lowered the rates for the other classes, so it was coming for X & Pool as well....

Wtf is uber thinking honestly, do they get together and decide how they can f%k drivers again? How about they do something to improve earning and not cut for once.
hopefully this will curb the ants and next year they will raise the rates again,

or

they will get more bang for their buck as they have ANTS lock and loaded and depended on this income that they (ants) cant do anything about it, but just work an extra hour or two... to cover the lost wages....

Yes they have....
The even SCARIER issue here, is how badly we'll be screwed on the surge rides. Let's say this ride above is at a 1.7x surge....
Old rate 31.05 x 1.7 = 52.78
New rate 26.24 x 1.7= 44.60.. difference of.. 8.28..
So, does Uber now pocket that extra money??
This is seriously the WORST thing uber has done for LA drivers in the past 2years. Wow!!
