Hello everyone

I have been contemplating joining UBER. I need to purchase a new vehicle anyway. I see that UBER X L drivers make about twice as much as UBER X drivers. Therefore, would i be better suited buying a UBER XL vehicle and paying a little more than buying let's say, a Toyota Prius ? I appreciate any help with this.

It's kind of weird. I was all pumped in doing this. I spoke to a day today that drives for Uber. It sounded like a perfect fit for me. But, now reading all these posts on the forum, I am thinking I might be nuts for jumping in this. It just seems like so much negativity out there.

I don't think my expectations are too great. I would like to work 8 hours a day, and gross $144.00 a day which is gross $18.00 an hour. That's why I was leaning towards an UBER XL.

You should really do some research, like the costs. Sure $18/ hour sounds good. But you'll only be making actually about $12. If you do decide,do research on used SUV's, don't buy new. A good Yukon XL around 2013 is a good investment, don't need 4x4 or Denali, just a clean, dark color Yukon

I have been driving XL for the past 9 months. I can tell you that you can make a lot more money than X but now with XL being forced to drive X it will cost you to drive. Uber has offered me incentives to drive last weekend and this weekend with my Armada. They have made the incentives to good to pass up. I made $35.60/hr (still not factoring incentive for my last 4 rides yet) last weekend before gas and other deductions which I factored my real pay to be $20/hr. I take out for depreciation, insurance, gas, licensing and taxes. But I am not sure how long the incentives will last. You can make money if you know ur routes and how to run ur business!

I'm writing this based on what I've seen and read here. If I'm wrong on what I read then so be it. I was going buy a select SUV until I saw the offices full. Worse yet they are forcing Select to pick up X pax; which means if you don't pick em up Uber will act against you. I just went to the Uber office week before last. Uber office it was filled with people. Standing room only. I was there for about 45 mins. Every time people left more people came in. This means there filling the streets with drivers. This means more drivers less riders to drivers as a whole. This week I went to lyft office. It was full also. So this means even more drivers. This can't be good. Uber is now advertising on TV which I've never seen. Imagine how many more people will be coming in to drive. This can not be good for anyone; except the massive numbers of foreigners I saw in the offices who come from countries where they only make $5.00 a day. They'll be very happy. By the way your not an independent contractor (IC). From what I've read, this is a misclassification to circumvent employment law. Just because you work when you want, and pay for everything doesn't make you IC.

They fixed where Select doesn't have to pick up X for the time being. But XL is still screwed hauling around poor taxi drivers who don't make enough to buy good cars.

I'm not in this game yet but Jesus Christ how can American's live in harmony with crap like this go'n on? You can't play a game if they keep changing the rules. It's confusing & deciful. It's a bit like the casinos calling the slot machines gambling when they're just flat out stealing from people
