I had a passanger tell me that once every few months the tribes give the local native americans a pay out check and that they will want you to give them rides for 2-3 hours while they do all their errands. Thats fine. by me! I iust moved to Phoenix and am gathering info. What are the dates this generally happens?

Thanks

I would check your per minute rate before getting too happy. At 9 cents/minute you're not going to even make minimum wage doing those fares. In a cab they are worth the effort but we get 50 cents/minute and they go roughly 10 to 15 miles in two hours. The next Salt River per cap is probably the last Thursday in July. How's the Phx market compared to Vegas??? Uber won't be happy until everyone is making less than minimum wage.

I have been here 11 years....been driving for a full year now.....auhhh tribal people wanting rides??? I have to scratch my head cause I used to work on a tribal reservation and if they did want a ride for you to take them from place to place while they shop would be a total waste of your time........you take them to Walmart and 40 min later they are done....so u just made an additional $3.60 for waiting.....you see where this is going????

It's called their TROG check. Totally Relying On Gambling. It's a $3 billion a year industry in Maricopa County. A little over 30 years ago when the Salt River Pima Tribe would get upset with the State of Arizona they would close off the north bound lane of Pima Rd. Now they gave the state a 99 year lease on the property where the 101 Pima Freeway is for next to nothing. Isn't it funny how money makes you do things you really don't want to do. If you do take them around for errands you'll definitely have to come on state land as there is no "firewater" sold on tribal land.

I would only do that for Pocahontas
They offered me $100 to have sex with the old lady, but I declined as she was no Pocahontas and I figured I could make just as much money not doing that. And I'm not a prostitute. So I spent the final two hours of the trip driving around running up the meter another $120 while they tried to get random homeless men to do it but none were interested.

This thread is not likely to enlighten anyone. OUT.
Do you want the truth or should we sugar coat it like Uber does. I would look pretty hard at what Brian St. Remy is saying. I'm not the politically correct type. I'm the reality type. There is a reason why once a month a non retired aged person needs to be driven around. Most likely they don't have a drivers license because of DUI's or something very "stupid". Look at Brian's post about liquor and drinking in the car. The responsible people who receive their once a month check have their own vehicle and will drive themselves, have their own banking account and will deposit their check instead of having to go to a check cashing place, have additional monies from employment so not to depend on the day the monthly check arrives. I remember a while back reading a thread about the 1st Tuesday of every month and taking those people to Wal Mart. I remember all the complaining on that thread also. Brian St. Remy has most likely preformed this task a lot and knows what to expect. Look at what Brian is really saying and then see if going out to the tribal communities is still appealing. These new Uber drivers might just be in for a shock at $.12 a minute. We can be all smiles and understanding, but when the reality hits I bet I will see many complaints on this forum. And with much more derogatory comments then what just got posted above for humor.

Yep. Plenty of responsible well-behaved Native Americans out there, but we don't see them in our cars. They drive themselves.

"Doing errands" mostly means going around to various liquor stores and drinking in your car. Lots of waiting and slow driving on the reservation. My last one took seven hours and they paid me $336 cash. An Uber driver would've gotten maybe $60 for that trip.
$336 cash???? Heck they can ping me from a neighbouring state for that kinda fare....

Goober sucks and so do natives

I try to avoid the res at all times. I've had a few $100 rides on per-cap day, but it's not worth it to me to deal with the BS and insanity.

There's been many many many threads about the ghetto since you've joined. It's almost the same exact context, just substitute the phrase tribal land for ghetto.
Notice how you said GHETTO because you are afraid to say black or african american for fear of a mob or getting banned. But calling out the natives is fine. When do the welfare checks come in for the rest of the bummericans anyway

Definitely not afraid of saying Black or African American (spelled correctly when referring to a race or ethnic group). I grew up playing sports in the South. And the Welfare checks come out the 1st Tuesday of every month. There is also many many many threads on this about bringing the "bummericans" to Wal Mart

This thread is to bring awareness of what to expect. Many members posting on this thread have been doing this for years and are giving there honest opinion. Just like the opinions about the 2 o'clock drunk white trash pick ups in Old Town on a Friday night.
