While I am making only $80-$100 per day driving UBER, at least it can help pay my rent and buy some non essential items from the supermarket.
Because my Super balance has dropped $95K in the last 2 weeks.
How are other part time driver retirees faring?

I can only afford to buy essential items from the supermarket like rice pasta and toil....hang on......
My super took a big dive during the GFC, taking another big dive now. Driving off the cliff at Bondi
is looking more and more attractive.

Don't have super anymore... pulled my money out in the late 80s, just before the Gov changed one rule.... being that you couldn't touch your money til 65...no thanks.

The Gov saw that everyone was pouring money in Super only paying the concessional tax rate of 15% instead of normally paying the top income tax rate of 49%...so they shut that door and you had to wait til 65 :(

Don't get me wrong...Super is generally a good idea as a forced savings tool....the majority of people aren't really good savers and planners.

I have a unit rented out to a tenant who convinced me to install an aircon during the heatwave ($1800). This week the toilet cistern had to be replaced ($550).
Now I hear the tenant has unfortunately lost their job and will be seeking rent deferral.
Times are tough for everyone.

It's the Black Swan event ongoing.....nobody could have prepared or foresaw coming. Lucky we already paid our house and some diversified investments (property, shares and even USD). I stopped driving 2 weeks ago and expect this to lasts with its negative effects in the next 12-18 months. Should have listened to Transporter 3 and invested in gold couple of years ago.
