I'm confused by this too, because I am getting the pings when I'm at home. Maybe there wasn't anyone in the cell phone lots, and I got the request at my location (which is about 5-6 minutes from the airport.)

That said, Uber cannot possibly restrict ping requests to go to just one location (the cell phone lot). We can wait somewhere else other than that lot, I wouldn't recommend the Hilton though. Personally, I'm going to wait at Racetrac.
Be careful You might get a Parking Ticket, It's technically Jefferson Parish you know, Seems that with Lyft and now Airport pickups the Taxi's are losing the battle big time.

Does anyone know where this "ground transportation lot" that we're supposed to do the pickups from is? Is it the lot to the right of the last light before the terminal coming from the Airport Service Road that says "Taxi's only"?
No, it's on the left--it's the 1st floor of the parking garage. When you get to the last light before reaching the terminal, stay to your left. It's not a big sign but it's there.

I went to the Airport today to try and get some questions answered. The airport said the agreement with Uber and any other TNC is that they will be implementing a Geo Fence. (Not sure what that is) Also the Lot C is the only Lot that Uber or any other TNC vehicle can wait at and Uber is suppose to be utilizing a first in first out que for this lot. The airport cannot guarantee that you will or will not get a ticket when you are off of airport property. The lady said they have no legal say so when off airport property.

I made my first 2 airport pickups today. On the second pickup, the security guard at the entrance to the "Transportation Center had me and 2 other Uber vehicles wait at the entrance while she wrote down the time and our license plate numbers. Wonder what's up with that? Also, there were no numbers on the parking spots where the Uber/Lyft signs were attached to posts in front of the parking spots, so all you can do is tell the rider to look for your vehicle. The Uber email announcing airport pickups says there would be numbered parking spots.

The Geofence means that you can not get a request when you are actually on airport property. Essentially, your car disappears from the map of available drivers when you are on airport property. As far as a FIFO queue, there is probably one for the Cell Phone lot and if there are no drivers in the lot the ping goes to the driver who is closest to the airport.

Care to elaborate on your experience waiting? Did you go to the cell lot? How long did you wait? I ask because I've twice gone and sat in the cell lot for about an hour and gotten nothing, so i gave up. Seemed like there were too many drivers around to make it worth it.

Yes, I waited in the cell lot. My first trip today was from the Quarter to the airport. After dropping off the riders, I went to the cell phone lot where I got a ping in about 20 minutes. Once I dropped off the riders downtown I got another airport trip and went to the cell lot after dropping the riders. I waited about 35 minutes for the next ping. I did a total of 6 trips today in 4 and a half hours with 4 of them being airport runs.

Fare from airport to 1001 E. Service Road in Covington was $37. Yep, $37. Some bullshiggity there. Drivers beware, Uber doesn't care or riders
Don't let Uber play you. You play Uber. You do realize that $37 fare was actually $34 because you had to pay the toll on the Causeway to deadhead back to New Orleans, probably 30 + miles. Friends, Don't take Airport trips to the Northshore, put them out of you car. Respectfully decline. So you'll get a 1 * rating . Do you really give a ..../

Lyle,
I got my $3 added, but still it is not worth it unless it is in city. No LaPlace, no Boutte, Luling or even Marrero to me
