For any of you that are doing the morning shift and entering CC zone, how is it going with £1 contribution? How much do you find yourself paying on average each day for CC? Do you get enough to completely pay it off?

How is the demand now around zone 1-2 in the day especially between 10am to 12.00? Has it picked up in the day because of less drivers or is demand still same?

I really do not want to carry on doing nights and am considering coming back to morning!

Please share your experiences.

Thanks

I now refuse all jobs into CC zone. I didn't for the two weeks. It makes short tempered, 1 like 15 mins and you check end of the day tolls; £7 or tolls £8. Never full amount.

Or you take one job into CC then one job that takes you out and that jobs keeps you there

I haven't been on the road for over a week now but when I was it was ok, if you played your cards right, if I started at around 6am by 10am I had usually done enough jobs to cover the charge.
BUT bear in mind I don't have to pay the CC anyway so I can afford to play games to see what works and what doesn't.

3-4 Per day. It is not the refusing I care about It's lets see

I get request Pont street to Fleet Street.

Then I get request Fleet street to Camden and then camden to Edgware so on on on and you end on the outskirts having paid £10.50 and only been paid £2.

for me I am finding it hard to cover the ulez by uber's contributions (I work night), its not even half the amount I can recover.
may be one job would take me in and one out, and that's it.
its a mine field of potential friction with paxholes if you would want to avoid cc/ulez zone, and that makes a working shift such a terrible experience..
I guess its obvious when you accept jobs blindly and get something that you so terribly dont want!!
IMO, central has not surged yet as I thought it would once ulez kicked in, to make its worth your while..

Had a few close ones...just entered zone around 6:10pm and 7pm ish...a few on weekend..as my car is ulez compliant ive been lucky...but I feel for those of you whom live and work close to cc zone...it's probs not worth it!

You do realise you're assuming HMRC is going to recognise CC as a business expenses? What if they say it is not a business expense then they will investigate you which will be your tax returns for the last 5 years if they find one little thing they will tax soo much you will pay 20x the amount you would off paid for CC

its a tax deduction my man, you think there gonna investigate every single driver in London, because you can bet everyones claiming it!
You think HMRC is stupid to allow drivers to claim £3.2k off their tax per year?

Go ahead but do t come crying when they freeze your bank accounts

Mess with uber
Mess with customer

But never ever mess around with HMRC and banks

What are you on about? CC is an expense to your business. Just like every van courier, lorries company pays for cc and puts it on their expenses. How is it not an expense when the only reason you drive into central is because your work has taken you there and there is plenty of proof you have with the booking.

All the expenses are added up and put in a box on self employment page as one figure on self assessment form, no requirement to itemise them.
The con charge is an allowable expense, deduct the £1 gains per journey.
The whole form takes about 10 mins, maybe 20 mins first time .
