I am a relatively new driver in the Orlando area. After reviewing some of my recent small trips, I've noticed that the $5.50 minimum fare was not observed, on multiple occasions. Instead, I've had trips that in the $3.50 to $4.00 range! And that is BEFORE the 25% fee! In one case I cleared only $2.78! I accept that they charge their uber fee, but I thought riders were always charged a minimum of $5.50 Is this a glitch or is this the reality?

Is there simply no minimum fare anymore in Orlando? Would really love some feedback on this from you guys and girls. Thank you!

$3.50 is your minimum ride. $5.50 is the pax charge $5.50- 25%-What your city gets depends on where you are then you get what's left over which is the $3.50 I'm guessing in your market. Which is high considering I've seen some only get $3.00

This is how it works in Orlando, you take someone a block or 2 and the total they pay is the minimum fare of $5.50, Uber takes $1.85 off the top THEN Uber TAKES 25% $0.91 leaving you with a whopping $2.74 and Uber got $2.76, Minimum fare is what the rider pays NOT what you get. In another effort to help you along....heads up.... Uber is a complete scam for drivers, International Dr. to MCO pays around $3 to $4 an hour after tolls and gas, stop while you're ahead.

I can always depend on you to make it plain and clear. Fyi, I'm still retired from uber after I did 3 weeks. Thanks for the consistent posting updating the world to how this works. UBER ON

Thank you for the concise answer! Is Lyft any better?

Very helpful yet again, thank you sir. I realize this is a different topic question, but is there a way to know where the pax is going before accepting their request?
YES ! I call them and act like I am confirming the pickup location, and if they live in a gated community I ask if I will need a code and for them to text it to me, then I slide in "and Mr. William....where will you be going tonight ?" When he happily answers something that equals the wrong direction from where I care to go I say " OK great, keep an eye on your phone so you can see when I'm arriving" , but really he needs to see that Shine man isn't going anywhere, CANCEL button hit !

Lol, I like your style. I would have guessed from the posts I've seen that you were a former driver.

I might play with it two nights out of the month, after 4 rate cuts it's pretty much pointless doubled by saturation of drivers stacked up it's totally worthless, I love calling riders and him n hawing about picking them up and I say, Your rating is not so good, did you have an incident? No what the heck are you talking about...hmmm I don't know Mr. William but 4.2 is not very good, I've never had a problem this is crazy, well if I had to guess I would say it's because you don't tip the drivers, well thats just crazy because we're not allowed to tip the drivers, interesting view Mr. William as I have never encountered the tip police and you know that your $10 ride means the driver will make less than half when it's all said and done right? Um Um well I'll give you $10 cash, I'm sorry but I am going to have to pass on this ride tonight, G'night Mr. William

You just tickled my creative thoughts. Let me come up with some witty games to enlighten pax to tip their drivers.

One of the good things about lyft is you can look at their destination before you arrive. Don't like it? Cancel. When you factor in the ability to tip, lyft is a much better alternative than Fuber. When I used to drive, I'd take a lyft ride over Fuber any day. The clientele is also better. The word has gotten out to the hood rats about Fuber but most don't know about lyft.

They are both scams but at least lyft encourages tipping.
