Hello all I have been driving for Uber here in Pensacola FL and I am looking to relocate back to Houston and possibly drive a little for Uber there. My question concerns the rates there at $1.10 per mile and $0.15 a min when they are much higher here at $1.80 per mile and $0.20 a min. Is there still money to be made driving UberX there or is the driver market saturated to the point where drivers are willing to drive for so little?

Thanks for the help hope to see Houston soon

there is money to be made probably not what you're making now and you need to pay attention to surgesand guarantees if you PM me and give me your email I can send you the emails that we get which will give you an idea of the guarantee times. it's definitely not the case of just going out and driving though you have to be strategic. also read through the posts about getting your permit and the airport permits because you'll want to do that will cost you about $160 Uber will not pay for tickets anymore

It's not so much a saturation of drivers as it is a lack of drivers which leads to the small userbase in Houston seeming to grow smaller daily because there's not consistent driver availability since rates are too low. One time right after rate cuts, a black guy requested me to come to Wal-Mart (didn't know till I got there) in the middle of the night 15 minutes away and fill my car with all the things him and his 6 other family members bought. I thought it was a poor stranded young professional needing a ride back to the inner loop. Boy was I wrong. It was some welfare family with their Obama phones using a free ride. Their house was right down the road, so I made two trips and still the fare was $5 total. I made $3.20. I should have declined since they seemed to have a little attitude with a Caucasian male who dictated that no more than 4 can ride. Point being, experiences like this which are more common now with the rate cuts, have led to good drivers quitting and good pax the same.
