Uber reported a net loss of $865 million in the fourth quarter. That figure, however, was aided by a tax benefit that saved the company from reporting a $1.2 billion net loss in the period. The company lost $1.8 billion in 2018, the first full year under new CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, according to the company's select financial results for 2018 released on Friday. The staggering figure represents a modest improvement from one year ago when it reported $2.2 billion in losses.

Tell me again why we are protesting for more money from a company that's losing money?

Because they spend their money on self-driving cars, when they should be partnering strategically, shoveling money to new driver bonuses, and all sorts of other misadventures rather than investing in retaining the good drivers they already have.

Are you suggesting that we conduct a tag day for Uber instead?

WOW ! I think this will be a huge slap in the face for UBER. we are talking about HUUUUGGGEEE LOSSS!!! Read this ::

British Uber drivers are planning a nationwide protest over pay ahead of the taxi app's planned blockbuster public listing this month.
Drivers have claimed that Uber's move to go public will lead to large payouts for executives and venture capitalist investors, despite failures to resolve their pay issues.
Uber drivers will log off from the app for nine hours on Wednesday 8 May, the day before the planned listing, and will picket in London, Birmingham, Nottingham and Glasgow, the union Independent Workers of Great Britain (IWGB) has said.
James Farrar, former Uber driver and chair of the United Private Hire Drivers branch of the IWGB, said: "Uber's flotation is shaping up to be an unprecedented international **** of greed as investors cash in on one of the most abusive business models ever to emerge from Silicon Valley.
"It is the drivers who have created this extraordinary wealth but they continue to be denied even the most basic workplace rights."
The firm has faced a backlash in San Francisco and San Diego after changing its pay structure in 20 cities across the US to give more money to drivers with slower, shorter rides than those with longer trips.

Because the CEO makes 200 million a year while drivers after expenses can barely pay rent.

And why after using $1.2 billion is he worth 200 million a year

Since this is the CHICAGO forum, let me clue you in to something: we make more in Chicago than is made in the vast majority of cities. So if you aim to get a Uber uniform and schedule requirements and have your pay cut to give to some dudes in Fargo and El Paso and cover some shitty health insurance with a $5000 deductible and expedite automated cars so we can join the hordes in Engelwood and Austin enjoying the $12/hr city minimum wage, go for it.

I will be serving my passengers and making some cash if I feel like it, unless I find something better to do.

I'm content with Uber and Lyft do see no reason why I want to hurt them. I get paid by them and make decent part time money. There are plenty of full time jobs that drivers can do instead of Uber so do those jobs instead of complaining. The market will sort things out if pay gets too low they people will quit and do something else. Lowest unemployment in 50 years so I don't see why people need a strike, do something else jeeze
