Hi,

I am currently driving for Lyft. I thought Via would be great in winter as you are confined to the Chicago city limits—no icy burbs.

I feel that Lyft incentivized me the first few weeks, but not so much now. They have increased my driver referral bonus (hiring my replacement) and implemented a new point system worth a few bucks here and there. But it seems rather cheesy like a consumer rewards card for products I’ll never use.

However, how does Uber compare?

Do you have experience working for both? Which do you prefer and why?

Cheers.

Has Uber in Chicago re-implemented the SURGE pricing, along with not keeping any more than 25% of the Fare, as they have done in California.

Lyft is screwing Chicago drivers worse than ever. I want out. But do not want to move from the frying pan into the fire.

You should absolutely run both apps and switch back and forth according to whichever one making you the better offer at the time. Or, if you're desperate for rides, whichever one makes you an offer at all. There is no downside whatsoever to having both options, so go out there and sign up.

Those numbers are incorrect: Uber X pays $.60 per mile. Where did you get that table? Hasn't been that in almost 2 years.

no, Uber is still sticking Chicago drivers where the sun don't shine.

In fact, those were NEVER the fares in Chicago. The whole thing is wrong.

It never hurts to have another platform to work. If one shuts you out, you can still earn.

Do you have any sources of what you are saying?

I was reading an announcement thread in one of the other sub-forums.

The Lyft fares/pay is correct for Chicago. But I have no clue about Uber. I don't drive Uber. But if you say they're wrong, they're wrong. The forum wouldn't let me post the URL of the website here.

This is the rate card for Lyft for Chicago. If you drive for Lyft you'd know this because this is what they pay you. There is no percentage game anymore. You might be posting what it COSTS to get a ride on Lyft, but the rate card is what the driver gets paid.
