I've just got this email from Lyft:

Lyft Ride in Orange County for 10% Less This fall, we’ve dropped prices by 10%.

Does that mean we're gonna get 10% less each ride?

Yuuup. But the good news is, by making 10% less but with the same overhead cost per mile, you'll be making more money! Just ask them, they'll tell ya! Uber math, Lyft math, it's all the same.

They dropped the base charge to 0 (from 0.80) to match Uber. Per minute charge is now 0.17 (less than uber) and 1.11 per mile (0.01 more than uber).

So, **** lyft, no reason to drive for them.

How the f*&^% do I make more money if they're dropping the prices ? WTF is wrong with Lyft?
You just have to believe and accept this: "Congratulations from Lyft! We have taken a move right out of the uBer playbook and now you will have rides through the roof! Be prepared to increase your earnings as more riders see the benefit of using your services at these new low rates!"

If all the drivers jumped ship to the platform offering drivers the highest rate, there would be no drivers available on the cheaper competitor... so passengers would have no choice but to pay more.
