Could work. The sad part is most (90%) of the LYFT passengers would all have a rating of 4 or less. Unless they're visitors/tourists they just do NOT tip. They are the bargain/cost conscious tier of the rideshare community.
So true though I'm still doing it. They don't deserve a 5 star if they don't tip me. 3 stars if they take line for a short distance (don't want to be dealing with that come June when the promo ends) 1 star if it's less than 1km. There are lots of 2km rides in this city don't need you to get to my bonus.

I wonder if Shoppers Drug Mart punishes their customers for coming in and buying just milk when they shop. Maybe they decide to tell their staff to be rude to these customers and give them a poor "rating"
Or are they bright enough to realize that the person who buys milk likely makes larger purchases at certain times and buys high profit margins.
Punishing pax for short rides is the most short sighted thing I've ever heard. Rating them low is Making the assumption that they ALWAYS take short rides. So give them a crappy rating and then you miss the good rides they will likely order because their rating is low.
If you don't want short Lyft Line or Pool rides, here's a solution. Don't pick up Pool/Line! You are literally providing a service that appeals to cheap pax, and then punishing them for being cheap.

I wouldn't use the term, "influential".
I know eh. Lol hey maybe it's you guys who shouldn't be driving for uber if you get so upset over things people say.
I like line when it works and finds me other pax along the way. I do not like pax who take advantage of it. I strongly believe that pax will not order a regular Lyft in the future and it's not short sighted. That person has a high probability of ordering line again and again.

It's not taking advantage if it's allowed.... Suppose you can wait on a bus, spend $3.25 and go few stops... OR, you can use your $5 voucher, get doorstep service, and get to your destination for free using ride-share... what would you do?
It's promoting the service. I'm always nice to all pax, at the end of the day, a happy customer will come back, so I'm doing my part. Sometimes you gotta take a hit. You won't always have long rides.
also in 1,850 rides i've done i've only ever been paired with the same person once. not short sighted. You just like to argue against everything i write. thats clear as day to me but thats okay it doesnt bother me and your completely entitled to your own opinion. oh and bringing up my deactivation to make a point is low and shows a lack of character. You want to make an argument against something i've writen dont bring up my deactivation. That has nothing to do with anything. Or be that "special person" and bring it up I wont stoop to your level or let it upset me.

I dont blame the pax for taking advantage of it. not at all at the same time I dont want to drive 4km to be picking up a pax that ive given a ride to before who went less than one km AND didnt TIP. That person i want nothing to do with. That person is cheap inconsiderate and gross in my opinion. Let that person be some other drivers problem. Use lyft but TIP. even if its a $1.
For the record those who go more than 1km and dont tip get 4 star from me. So I'm still willing to give them a ride again but there is no way do i feel they deserve 5 stars.
not even going to respond to your question. Instead I'll ask two of my own. do you not value a tip? and what makes you deserve a tip?And what makes you think you deserve a tip?..

One of the things about lyft I like is, there is no extra screen for rating. So I haven't bothered going back to rate anyone. I just pick up, drop off, sometimes entertain their conversation. Fast and efficient. If it's a short ride... I take solace it will end quickly too.
oh one last thing. This whole line thing is all on the basis that Lyft may not convert unmatched line rides to regular lyft rides as they do in other markets. If they just do that then I will happily keep giving rides to these people. But we will see what they choose to do with unmatched line rides in toronto come june when the promo ends.

The reason I asked is because you sound just like an entitled pax. When you say "they don't deserve a 5 star if they don't tip me" is like an entitled pax saying "they don't deserve a 5 star if they don't provide me with water, mints and aux cord". Everyone knows getting a tip is unlikely, this isn't a new issue. It shouldn't change the way we rate our riders.
The problem with your method of rating riders is it ends up hurting drivers. The whole point of ratings is to distinguish between the behaviour of good pax from bad pax. If you give a friendly, respectable pax a low rating because she took a short ride the one time you picked her up then it defeats the entire purpose of ratings. How would drivers know who are the well-mannered pax and who are the paxholes we should avoid?
Jesus go drive. Stop wasting your time critizing everything I write people. Or waste it whatever. Your writing bs just to argue with me. 4 isn't going to stop anyone from picking them up. I don't want to give the same rating as I did to someone who did tip me. Drivers rating pax 3 or less will have a bigger dip in their rating than several 4s again stop making lame arguments and drive and make money. If you bothered to read my recent post I said I give 4s to people who don't tip and take short distances. But you over looked that cuz you feel a need to argue with me.

I actually did read that you give 4 stars when a rider doesn't tip you on a short ride which is why I responded by telling you that defeats the whole purpose of the rating system. But you overlooked that (even though I put the word "behaviour" in bold for you) because you feel a need to argue..
You have a right to your opinion but you should also listen to what others are telling you. I know you don't believe it but people here are actually trying to help you out..
Hmmm smartie how does rating someone 4 eliminate the rating system? U didn't explain that. U do realize you can rate the assholes lower right? A pax with a 4 or lower rating gets a different consideration with me than someone who is 4.6 or higher. But pax who are 5 are a def acceptance and they should earn that rating just like I earn my 4.9 rating. Go drive your argument is lame. I'm defending my point there is a difference.
