This Week's Promo: It's On Us
We're bringing you higher demand.

To stay competitive in Los Angeles, we originally planned on lowering prices yesterday. Instead, LA passengers are now getting 50% off every ride, and we're paying you the full amount - just like we did for Monday rides in August. This way, you'll see more ride requests, with no change to the amount you're paid for time and distance.

More to Come Today

Keep an eye on your inbox. We're forecasting high demand thanks to this big passenger promo, so we'll be thanking you in various ways for getting on the road during a busy time.

The Road Ahead

We'll front the cost of these half-off rides for as long as we can, and will take another look at your pricing in the coming weeks. When it's necessary, we'll phase out the discount and introduce lower prices to continue to spur local demand.

As always, you'll be the first to know about any changes to our prices. Watch for our email with an update, and additional opportunities to earn more.

I'm worried that Uber might retaliate with lowering their fares as well. We all know that previous promotions that were covered by these companies led to cuts in driver pay a few months later.

Lyft is desperate since they're getting their ass kicked by Uber. UberPool has become the choice of cheap riders in LA.

I believe that Lyft realized lowering the fares to drivers below Uber's rates would have cost them a majority of their drivers. PrimeTime is too random and drivers don't even know if they hit it until after the trip. That's why drivers don't mind turning off Lyft during peak times. Über lets drivers know when they're getting a surge call. Some might have kept driving since Lyft has in app tipping, but fewer and fewer riders have been using it.

We'll see how long this promotion lasts, but I doubt Uber won't retaliate.

It's not ever necessary to discount a quality product. LYFT needs to fire all the dumb**** MBA's and get some positive press/product placement.

How about the people on Survivor taking a "Lyft" to a reward?

That's good! Or The Amazing Race where they could only take Lyft rides and airplanes to get to their destinations all over the world.

Just got it. More of the same. I remember when I started driving 2 years ago and the rates were $2.50/mil and $0.49/min. Friends would ask how I liked it. My reply was always, "Its too good to last the way it is, but I'm enjoying it while I can."

I'm driving Lyft this weekend...if I get 30 rides by the 9th. they will fork over an additional $150 to me. They must access my uber earnings thru the app and they want a part of it.

I get more, uber gets less, works for me

Uber believes you build ridership by cutting partner fares ( when all it does is give us more classless passengers on the cheap or just cheaper rides to our quality/loyal passenger when in fact they can reward those quality ones with a volume discount after a number or rides.)

LYFT on the other hand gives us our due...suspends a decrease, and STILL giving the PAX a deal and offers me a $150 bonus.

I love being an I-C haha
